Ok, honey, lets keep this easy!.!. right!?

I'm going to assume you know how to cook, but let's be honest, simple is often so much more elegant!.

romantic dinners are not served "family style" they're put on the plate and served!.

Start with a simple soup!. Even a little beef bouillon is nice!. serve this with a few crackers!. Water crackers are nice and you can get them fairly inexpensive!.

for your entree how about cornish game hens!?

here's what you need for that:
2 cornish game hens

Sauce:
2 T butter
1/2 c orange juice
1 T honey
1 T brown sugar
1/2 t salt
1/2 t sage
1/2 t rosemary
1 T cognac (optional, but nice)

Glazed Oranges
4 large oranges
2 T butter
1/4 brown sugar
1 T honey11/4 cup white wine (use white grape juice if you can't use the wine)

*Preheat the over to 350f!.
*place the hens on a rack in a roasting pan, breast-side up and rub with a little of the butter!.!.!. about 1/2 T for both!.
*Roast uncovered for 30 min!.

Combine the remaining sauce ingredients in a small sauce pan and heat over low flame until the butter is melted!.
Use this to bast the chickens often for the next 45 minutes (until done)

While they're cooking:
cut off the ends of the oranges!. Slice each oranges 8 times!. Combine the rest of the glaze ingredients, in a medium sauce pan!. add the orange slices and simmer until the oranges are glazed!.!.!.about 25 minutes!.

to serve this: place one hen on each plate!. add your side dishes, and garnish the hens with the orange slices!.

nice sides for this:
Fresh steamed green beans (you can even get the green giant steam-in green beans and then add some crumbled bacon and sliced almonds!.

then I like to use rice, make your rice according to the package only use half chicken broth and half orange juice as the water and add a handful of chopped pecans!. a very lovey side!

Dessert can be very very easy!

kind of Tirimisu
get a couple pound cakes, a container of cheese cake filling, and a Jiffy (brand name) mix of chocolate icing!.

In a loaf pan or 8x8 inch pan or even a clear bowl:
add a layer of sliced pound cake!.!.!. drizzle with some VERY strong coffee!.!.!. (you can use instant) then some cheese cake filling!.!.!.
keep this up until either the pans full or you're out of stuff!.

Chill this, make the icing mix and drizzle over slices to serve!.
a strawberry is nice for garnish or even raspberries!.

what ever you decide to serve, your folks will love it!
may you be blessed!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tablecloth, napkins, candles, centerpiece, water glass, tea glass, coffee with the dessert!.
Glass plates, metal silverware, soft mood music and lighting!.
Remove each course before serving the next one!.
Hot rolls, or garlic bread or garlic/texas toast!.

1!.Light soup to start off the meal (Campbell's will work)
2!.Small mixed salad w/salad dressing (you can buy prepacked salad)!. Get the vegetable mixed salad!.
3!.Spaghetti and spaghetti sauce with grated cheese topping
4!.Ice cream on pie/cobbler/ pound cake for dessert!.
5!. A few small pieces of chocolate candy or mint to end the meal!.

Opt for 2 & 3!.!.!.Chicken tenders/baked chicken/sliced turkey/sliced roast beef/ meat loaf, creamed potatoes, sweet peas or favorite green vegetable!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you should have a pretty table cloth, sliver ware, cloth napkins and some nice music!.

1- have differnt types of bread and butter on the table!.
2- when they are done with that have a soup ( matzo ball, tomato, cheese even canned soup is ok!.
3- this is a dish before the main meal so you might want shrimp ( you can buy it frozen to make it easy and less time wasting), fish you mostly use sea food for this dish but it can be substituted!.
4- the main dish you can have pasta, meat, sandwiches!.
5- this is the salad part Cesar greek anytype of salad!.
6-dessert- choclate cake icecream choclates cocoa tea!.
goodluck and you don't have to do everything i told you to do!. just make sure you show how much you love them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Shrimp cocktail (put the shrimp over the edge of 2 martini glasses, with a litle lettuce & the sauce in the bottom of the glass)

Raspberry Spinach Salad - fresh washed spinach leaves, tossed with either fresh raspberries or sliced strawberries, sliced red onion & carmelized walnuts or pecans (stirfry the nuts in sugar, until the sugar melts & coats the nuts) - toss with bottled Raspberry Pecan or Raspberry Walnut Vignarette dressing

Filet mignon wrapped in bacon !.!.!. double-baked potatoes !.!.!. steamed asparagus

Chocolate covered strawberries and mini cream puffs

A good bottle of merlot to drink with itWww@FoodAQ@Com

Great idea, what a great child you are!.
I recently made my boyfriend Rack of Lamb!.!.!. he loved it!. along with roasted red potatoes and asparagus!. also made cheesy Biscuits (like at red lobster, the recipe is on the back of a Bisquick, sooo good) For desert I made Apple Crisp with pecan ice cream!.
no matter what you make I am sure they will love it!

Pasta bake, its ***** lovely!!! Look 4 it in a recipe book or just buy a jar frm a shop =]Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would serve some hor d'oerves - something you can prepare in advance - if weather is hot make them icy cold if it is cold make them hot!. You prob know what kinds of flavors they like!. We like (for cold) cream cheese spread on water crackers, add a few small shrimp (fresh or canned) heaped on top and pour just a 1/2 teaspoon of cocktail sauce over!. If they drink wine you could serve a nice chilled wine with them!.

For hot, I would probably go with buying some puff pastry and cutting them into 3" squares - spread with cheese spread of your choice and add some kind of filling - like a little crab, shrimp, garlic chicken etc!. Wrap them up and you can tie them with a piece of thread and snip thread and pull loose right before serving!.

Then a good salad - tossed green with lots of garden ripe cherry tomatoes, cukes, fresh mushrooms, celery, chopped green onions or chives with dressing they like!.

Then I would just grill them a nice steak - NY Cuts are especially good, but we like t-bones and Rib steak too!. Salt and season the steak about 4 hrs before cooking!. I would serve the steak with a baker potato and all the trim (crumbled bacon, chopped chives, sour cream etc) And also include some small croissants or dinner rolls with the steak!. Make sure you know how they like their steak cooked - if you are doing it on a bar b q grill if you push on the top of the steak - you will see that the 'softer' it is the more rare it is and I usually (for rare) go 2-1/-3 min to a side over a medium fire!. For Medium abt 4-1/2-5min per side and for done about 6-7 min per side and it should be very firm when you press it with your fingers!. :)

Make or buy a dessert you know they both like - or try tiramisu or something exotic if you have time and a little talent!. Finish the meal with a good cup of coffee or tea (served with dessert) if they like either of those!.

Try to keep it as simple and pre-prepared as you can so things go smoothly and are ready to serve one after the other!.

I would set up the table with a real tablecloth, candles (you can get some candle sticks at a thrift store more often than not if you do not have any decent ones) Maybe a small bouquet of flowers on the back side of the table for a little atmosphere!. Use your best dinnerware and silverware!. Cloth napkins!.

I would include a card to them that expressed your feelings about what you are trying to do here!

I think what you are doing is wonderful!! You have every right to be proud of yourself! Good luck!
