go with a pasta dish...baked mostaccoli..usually least expensive
and a basic tossed salad....

for dessert...a brownie tray or pie

can anyone say happy meal?

That'll buy you enough white rice to feed 500.

Buy it in a really big sack.

ice tea ,spaghetti, garlic bread, jello good luck

make an easy main dish like spaghetti and for dessert get ice cream and for drinks have pop

Wendy's dollar menu

10 Jr bacon Cheeseburgers
10 Small Fries
10 Cokes
10 Frostys
$40.00
plus tax $2.80
=42.80 you have some left over for chicken nugget appetizers

spaghetti, garlic bread, mixed salad, tea, coffee, jello

edit:
hehehe I just saw suzy's answer- no I am not copying, I type slow
but I am in agreement with her

Lasagna is a good dish that can spread, especially if you add a salad and breadsticks. Brownies and ice cream make a great dessert.
Lasagna can run about $10/ tray, but it feeds 8-10.
Salad $5 for two bags of greens and a tomato
Breadsticks $3 for two cans of refrigerated dough
Brownies $4 a tray
Ice cream $5
That's $27, and my estimates may be a little off, but you're definitely under the $50.
Drinks should only run a couple of bucks for 3 2 liter bottles.

make chicken chimmy chungas really easy all you need is salsa(great word) taco shells, chicken and mazza cheese get like 2 packages of taco shells two things of salsa. cut up chicken into small pieces grill mix salsa with chicken put that mix in the shells with the cheese. put more cheese on top broil for 3 minutes or until chesse is melted. then serve then get one of those box cake things and icing, and your good to go. Good luck

Hi,
Keep it simple and your money goes farther. Like.. steaming fresh veggies, those are cheap. Make steamed green beans not too soft, and then sprinkle them with some soy sauce before serving. Fantastic and fancy. Place them lengthwise int he plate and throw some almond slices on them. FANCY but so cheap!!!

Ok.. so that is like 5.00

Now, take some ground hamburger, couple cans of mushrooms, an onion, cream of mush soup, sour cream and make some strognoff.... then make some RICE and serve that. You can make this for 15.00 for that many people.

Throw in a bagged salad. or two... 5.00

Dessert.... buy frozen eclairs or something.. you have plenty left for a splurge.

And for drink... serve lemon water.. its nice and lemons are cheap!!!!

THAT is a nice meal. easy and quick. Everyone loves stroganoff.

I suggest a pasta dinner - pasta, meatballs, garlic bread, salad... couple of bottles of some inexpensive red wine (Yellowtail is good and inexpensive) and dessert, your meal is made! anything with chicken, whole steaks, or fish is going to add up quickly!

spaghetti, salad, garlic toast and soda....sounds like everyone else's suggestion, huh? sorry...but that's kinda late notice. Pizza may work too...get the 555 deal for $5. a piece from Domino's pizza. Ask someone to pitch in for the drinks and dessert.

Barbecue roast beef or pork sandwiches. They are quite simple, and everyone loves barbecue. Cook the roast for about 6 hours at about 300 degrees in your oven, that is simpler than it sounds. About 7 hours before serving, place roast in a pan (I would use a 5 - 6 pound rump roast), add 2 to 3 cups of water, season salt lightly, and cover with aluminum foil. It will take care of itself from there. Remove from the oven after 5 - 6 hours, slice, drain, and add a bottle of barbecue sauce (your choice) to the roast. Stir it up, cover, and put back in the oven till ready to serve, you may want to stir it a couple of times.
Serve the barbecue meat on hamburger buns, and have another bottle of barbecue sauce for the guests to add more if they wish.
Serve this with a simple tossed salad, topped with grated cheese, and diced boiled egg. And ice tea or coffee to drink.
For desert, this is so elegant & simple!!! You will need a pan of brownies, 2 8-oz tubs of cool whip, a large box of instant chocolate pudding, and 1 small bag of frozen raspberries. Take a pan of brownies, crumble them up, place half in the bottom of a large clear glass bowl, then a layer of chocolate pudding & cool-whip combined (1 large box of instant chocolate pudding, mixed according to directions, and an 8 oz tub of cool-whip), use half of this in this layer, then a layer of cool whip, use half of the 2nd tub, and sprinkle with frozen raspberries. Repeat the layers again, and WOW!!! Totally elegant desert.
If you use store brands of barbecue sauce, cool whip, pudding, etc, you should be able to put this wonderful meal together for about $40 - $45, and there should be plenty to feed 10 - 12 guests. Good Luck!!!

Easy.
Spaghetti, salad & garlic bread.
Sorbet for dessert.
Who doesn't like spaghetti?

Make a big pot of Vegetable Beef soup (use hamburger and the already cut up frozen vegetables, beef broth, tomatoes, etc) served with crackers. Chances are you'll have some of the suff already in your pantry. Also make a simple dessert by baking cookies (slice and bake) or make a banana pudding (fairly inexpensive) Good luck! (HEY! I just thought about spaghetti too! It's cheap!)

la pizza loca.

El Noche De Tacos!

Someone wrote Taco Hell, but making a great big buffet with taco fillings is cheap and interactive.

Any pasta dish will be your most economical. Minimal ingredients, a great garlic bread, a great sauce and you are sure to be a hit!

KFC

What kind of things do you already have on hand? I would start with that.

I would make chili, cornbread, a green salad and buy a cake mix. A stew would also be good. Mexican type cooking is affordable especially for that many people. I have a really good mexican casserole that can be easily doubled.

This of course being on a budget. Off budget I could come up
with things fancier.

KING RANCH CHICKEN CASSEROLE

2 cups chicken breast meat, cooked and chopped
1 can RF cream of mushroom soup
1 can RF cream of chicken soup
1 can Rotel tomatoes (I use the “milder” version)
8 corn tortillas cut in fourths
1 cup Sargento light shredded Mexican Cheese
1 onion chopped
4 cloves garlic minced
1/2 cup chopped celery
salt and pepper to taste

Saute onion, garlic and celery in a nonstick pan coated with cooking spray. Add soups and Rotel tomatoes and heat. Add salt and pepper to taste. Spray 9x12 pan with cooking spray. Layer 1/2 of tortillas in bottom. Pour 1/2 of soup mixture over tortillas. Sprinkle 1/2 chicken and 1/2 cheese over soup mixture. Repeat layers ending with cheese. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes . Uncover and cook additional 10 minutes.

6 servings

If you want to make this less spicy, substitute Del Monte Zesty Tomatoes with Green Chilis for the Rotel

I cook chicken breasts in a crockpot. I cover them with salsa and cook on low for 4 hours. It's tender and easy to shred and really flavorful. Add mexican rice and beans to round out the menu and use the money you saved to make or buy a great dessert.

Tacos or enchilada's. Supermarkets offer wide varieties of kits and sauces. The ingredients are cheap enough and go a long way. Make cookies or a Betty Crocker cake for dessert. Good luck!
