What kind of food should I have for my boyfriends 21st surprise get-together?!

Question: What kind of food should I have for my boyfriends 21st surprise get-together!?
Not sure I should really call it a party!.!.!.!.
You see, we're buying our first home together and the closing date is actually the date of his 21st birthday! October 9th!

I called 3 of his good friends and invited them to come over on october 25th (giving us a few weeks to get ourselves situated)!. They will all be bringing their girlfriends!. My best friend (also a friend of his) will be there as well!. So we're looking at 9 people!.

I'm going to have people come over around 6:30!. I dont really want to do a lot of cooking - I just kind of wanted to have out appetizers and stuff!. !.!.!.

I was going to get those Pizza bagle bites (my boyfriend loves those)
Chips and dip of course
And a cheese/pepperoni/cracker platter!.
Should I do like a cold-cut "make your own sandwich" platter type thing!?!?

And then I was going to put out homemade cupcakes (birthday cupcakes) & some homemade chocolate chip cookies out as well!.

This isnt like a formal thing!.!.!.so is what i've got planned okay!?

No bagel bites!. It's fine if your boyfriend likes them but adults don't serve those to other adults!. If you are having it at 6:30, you will need to serve something that can pass for a meal!. Either do "heavy" appetizers or make dinner!. How about making baked ziti and a salad and let people serves themselves!? Slice up some good crusty Italian bread too!. Before dinner!.!.do the cheese and cracker platter!. The good thing about Baked Ziti is that you can assemble it hours before you need to bake it!. Just keep it in the fridge and bake laterWww@FoodAQ@Com

Meat, followed by chocolate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

sounds good - nice & simple!. You may want to put out some small dishes of nuts here & there too - guys love them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

why not just have a BBQ!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It sounds good, there are a couple of things you could do if you want to make it a little "extra-special!." You can do a veggie tray or fruit tray!. They aren't too expensive and would provide something with a few more vitamins for those who like them!.

Since it is close to Hallowe'en, you could do something with a Hallowe'en-inspiration, think something like a weird colored punch, or anything made with green jell-o :)

A good, easy punch is to heat up a bowl of cranberry cocktail in the microwave, dissolve a package of cherry jell-o in it, add 7-up and some more craberry cocktail and you have a super easy, super yummy punch!. Then you can throw gummy worms or other weird-looking fruit candy in and you have a Hallowe'en punch!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
