Awesome you're from Illinois,me too!I could tell you afew caterers but it mostly depends on what part of Illinois you from,I'm from Southwestern Illinois so I could tell you about some caterers around here or in St.Louis.Otherwise I dunno! But as far as ideas go check foodnetwork.com for food ideas and go to your local party favor store for decoration ideas.

I found some links that might give you some ideas. I've used the Tropic Treasures site in the past and had good luck with them. For food, you could do an authentic pit roasted pig. Have fun!!

One small suggestion, avoid the poi YUCK!!!!

Do a search for decorations on EBay. You will save a lot of money. I bought fabrics with hawian prints and made table clothes. We actual had the tables low to the ground and bought grass mats for our guests to set on. We used plywood as tables and the food was placd in the middle of the table. We made a mock tiki hut and had our bar there. we had grass skirts and leis for everyone. I served chicken kabobs, fresh fruit, pineapples, papaya, kiwi, etc. If you are up for it a pig cooked over a spit would really set the theme. Actually they cook them in the ground. The instructions on how to do that is on the web under authentic Hawian luaus

Be sure that whoever does your catering, that your food has a tropical flare. I recommend BBQ'd chicken or steak kabobs with pineapple and peppers, chilled peel n eat shrimp, salmon, chicken terryaki, fresh fruit, etc...

Visit www.breezybeachwear.com

They have great beach-inspired gifts. You can find great items for your family or bridal party. They also have an "island groom" and "island Bride" T-shirt in their apparel section that is pretty cute. :) Have a great time!
