Best ideas for an office summer party?!

Question:

Best ideas for an office summer party?

We are planning ahead! We would like to have an event which does not need to be too far away from the office. As our compnay won't pay for anything, it needs to be relatively inexpensive. We've mooted the idea of having a picnic but it may not be popular. What do others think? Have you staged a successful summer party this year?

Answers:
A bring a BBQ party

Everyone brings a salad/savoury/desert + some marinated meat to BBQ

Add drinks

Happy partying!

my mom's company does something along those lines, they always try to be cheap, so they do a potluck, or my personal fav, they get one of THEE best chicken caterers to come and do grilled bbq chicken, and everyone brings desserts, and they have a prize for the best dessert, its pretty cheap, less then 5bucks, a person, plus it comes with everything, including dessert, but still the contest is so much fun, teehee

Toga BBQ...

She said marinated meat.... HAHAH

Have a BBQ in your company parking lot or other close area. GEt everyone to bring something to the party-- so like a BBQ potluck.
All you need to do is borrow a few BBQ's from staff and get everyone to pitch in a few bucks for propane.
Either that or have a pizza party and get everyone to throw in a few bucks.
Or have a tailgate style party -- minus the alcohol or else you might all get fired.
Have fun

This summer - I threw together a party for his employees - rented the local miniature golf course, and they had a party area with picnic tables, etc. While people were playing golf - We BBQ'd hot dogs, burgers and chicken, offered potato salad, baked beans, crudites and dip, fruit & cheese platter.

We had everyone save their score card, and we handed out prizes for highest score, lowest score, most Holes-in-one, etc.

After this was done - we pulled out Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawbery ice cream and all the fixin's - bananas, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, sprinkles, nuts, M & M's, marshmallows, gummi bears, etc.

It was fun - really pretty easy to do - and didn't cost that much.
