You could do a white table cloth with a black runner - just simple clear glass vases in different sizes and shapes; fill with iridescent or black stones (at a dollar store, in the floral department); a couple of inches of water and 1 big flower in each of them!. You can probably find dyed turquoise, hot pink or white, gerbena daisies at the grocery store!. Stacks of black & white paper plates; or solid white china plates!. You could always tie a turquoise or pink ribbon around napkins, with the silverware inside!. !.!.!. Little glass dishes with turquoise, black, white & hot pink jelly bellies!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Black table cloths with small diaper cake centerpieces at the center of each!. A larger, coordianting, diaper cake would go on the gift table or some other pre-dominant location at the shower!.

Think: White diapers!.!.!.!.arranged professionally into 2, 3 or 4 tiered cakes!. Amazing ribbon detal!.!.!.!.wide black ribbon overlapped by a white and black striped ribbon overlapped by a hot pink ribbon overlapped by a turquoise ribbon!. Exquisite ribbon detail is the key to an upscale and trendy look for these centerpieces!. Toppers: Plush Zebras, Pandas, Black Bears!.!.!.!.all with hot pink and turqoise bows around their necks!. This would make for completely memorable centerpieces!. The guests would remember them!.!.!.!.mommy gets to use the diapers!.!.!.!.!.PERFECTION!

I agree that traditional baby shower games might not be what this soon-to-be mommy is hoping for!.!.!.!.so I have some fresh and non-silly (ie: sentimental and meaningful) activities listed alongside some traditional games on my baby shower website!.!.!.!.feel free to check that out!. The whole guide is based off of throwing a different type of shower!.!.!.!.one that is totally about the baby being celebrated and the mommy (and daddy) to be!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I recently threw a shower for a trendy mommy too, she wasn't down with the typical baby shower themes!. I think you're on the right track with keeping it simple n clean - black & white, accented with hot pink & turquoise will be perfect! When decorating try to remember that less is really more!

I noticed lots of other people are suggesting games but if you mom-to-be is anything like my BFF I threw the shower for - she will NOT be down for any of those god-awful baby shower games! To us, they're just torturous!!

So I came up with a creative plan that my BFF and all of her guests absolutely loved - instead of games, we all painted onesies in various sizes!. It was a blast & everyone loved creating their own designs for the baby!. You could also paint hats, mittens, nightgowns, etc!. Just make sure you use a non-toxic paint!. I got TONS of compliments on this activity & it's fun to see her baby in all the different outfits we painted!.

Another fun idea is to get a small picture album & scrapbook some plain decorative cards that fit in it & then supply the guests with the cards & markers & ask them to write down advice for the mom to be & also a "Fairy Godmother" wish for the baby!. I went another step further & took a pic with the mom-to-be with each guest, got the pics developed & put their pic next to their card so it's a fun little book to look thru!. My mom-to-be LOVED this!

I had a simple buffet with chicken sandwiches, pasta salad, chips & dip, a fruit & veggie tray!. We enjoyed socializing & chatting away while we all took turns painting!. It turned out to be an awesome & fun baby shower that was very non-traditional!

Good luck!! And Congrats to the mom-to-be :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would get rid of the black altogether it doesnt feel very baby shower-ish!?!

perhaps the white tables with some hot pink OR turquoise gerberas in a short square vase on each (gerberas come in ALL colors! and are fairly modern looking)!.

At each place you can have the serviettes in the pink/turquoise color way (presume you are eating)!. You can find some 'cool' paper serviettes I am sure at a good stationary shop or target or somewhere which might have geometric shapes printed (like circles etc) on the serviettes!.

You could serve pink and blue lemonade in nice modern glasses with pink/blue (ok, or black) fancy straws!.

I did a baby shower this summer for my cousin! IT WAS FUN!

I went to the dollar store and they have alot of decorations and paper plates products to match!.(dishes, napkins, cups all same pattern and design on it!.) They also have tablecloths all different colors!.(the ones you can throw away after!.) If you know the sex of baby, then do that color tablecloth!. My cousin was having a girl so I did pink and yellow tablecloths to break it up! I got a decoration for the door and hanging decoration to hang from ceiling!. For centerpiece on the tables, I did baby bottles and balloons tied from them!. I put marbles in them as weights!. She can have the baby bottles for baby! They had yellow baby bottles or clear ones at dollar store!. ( the 4 oz!. ones) For the gift table, I tied 2 mylar balloons to a stuffed animal for baby! also a party store might have cute decorations!. But dollar store is cheaper! I have seen online where they used baby food jars as centerpieces with flowers in them or a candle inside!(the stage 3 baby food jars or stage 2)
We played some games! A lady made a diaper cake(you can look online and shows you how to make it ) and then everyone had to pay $1!.!.00 to put in baby piggy bank to GUESS HOW MANY DIAPERS WERE USED!? Whoever comes closest to exact, wins a prize!. I bought some cute gifts at dollar store!.(candles, body lotions, frames, dish towels, etc!.) Diapers goes to baby as gift!
also played:GUESS HOW BIG MOM STOMACH IS !?" pass around roo toilet paper and have everyone wrap the paper around waist and guess how BIG you think mom is!. Then mom wraps hers and counts how many papers she is around her waist!. Whoever is the closest wins gift!. It was fun!
I've seen BINGO where everyone has to write in blanks what they think mom will get for a gift!.(diapers, socks, rattles, clothes, etc!.) When she open that gift, they x out the blank!. Whoever gets BINGO first wins! THAT WAS FUN! More for smaller showers!.
If type in BABY SHOWER IDEAS, it shows alot of different games and ideas you can do!. This is what I did and it was cute!
GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I dont think "trendy" when it comes to baby showers!. Just have white linens with a nice and simple center peice!. Maybe a lamb stuffed animal with a couple balloons tied to it!. Have an empty hamper for people to throw in books and baby shampoo, etc!.

Make a diaper cake!

A good game is to melt different candy bars in diapers and whoever can guess which type or candybars are in which diapers wins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
