Answers:
Go with Italian, spaghetti or lasagna or some kind of penne with sauce and meat and veggies.

I would surprse him with a good setup so he will be thrilled with the setup and it wont matter what you fix.

Are you kidding he's turning 21 he wants to be at a bar!

try food network.com... they have alot of good sexy date meals.

Pasta dish or Lasagne

chicken and beer-- something every guy wants on his 21st birthday

cook him a t-bone steak with snow crab legs. do the t-bone medium. either in a sauce pan and boil the crab legs. broccoli and baked potatoe. then take him to the bar and get him hammered and burn those calories when you both get home.

Grilled salmon w/ dijonaisse sauce .. it looks and sounds fancy, but all you have to do is mix 1 cup of mayo with 1/4 cup of whole grain dijon mustard, 2 tablespoons of fresh chopped dill weed and a teaspoon of lemon juice. If you don't have a grill pan, you can pan-cook it for 5-6 minutes on each side after seasoning it with salt and pepper.

Get a package of good quality rice pilaf from the grocery and make it according to the package directions.

Get some pencil thin asparagus, steam it until it's tender-crisp. (about 6-8 minutes) Do not let it overcook!

In another pan, sautee some sliced shittake mushrooms (or any kind of hearty flavorful mushroom - cremini, porcini, baby bella, etc.) in 1/4 sick of butter. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Fold in the aspagus spears and remove from the heat (you don't want the asparagus to get too soft).

Serve all of this with custy dinner rolls and a nice salad. Toss some musculin greens with crumbled blue cheese, walnuts and dried cranberries and lightly dress (very lightly!!) with raspberry vinagrette.

Champagne would be the best drink to serve (especially with the asparagus), but if you like red wine, then pinot noir would be the way to go.

Good luck and happy birthday to your boyfriend.
