I'm planning a casual holiday brunch. Any fun ideas?!

Question:

I'm planning a casual holiday brunch. Any fun ideas?

I'm hoping to make this brunch an annual event and would like to make it memorable.
Thus fat, we're offering gifts to those who wear Santa hats, and we're asking guests to bring contributions for the Food Bank.
Any other (inexpensive) ideas?

Answers:
I think it is fun to do a Holiday trivia game. Hand out sheets of paper - pencils and then get your questions ready.

Example of questions:

Name Santa's reindeer. (Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blixen & Rudolph. )

Other names for Santa Claus (Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, Pere Noel, St. Nick, St. Nicholas, etc.)

In the song Jingle Bells - what was the name of the Parson? (brown)

What were the gifts the Wisemen brought baby Jesus? (Frankencense, Gold and Myrrh)

Who came to the manger to see the baby Jesus? (angels, shepherds, wisemen, animals)

In the song Twelve Days of Christmas - what was sent on the 11th day (11 Lords a leaping).

ETC.

It's a fun game and at the end of the questions, you call out the answers, they check them - and you give a prize to the person with the most correct answers and also the one with the least correct answers.

you could have a sort of raffle/auction of cheap things for the kids. The kids each bring in a non-perishable item and their name goes in to a draw for some sort of prize.. Have one for the adults, too, and have the prize be something like a gift basket. You can normally pick up a cheap, but nice little gift basket from K-mart or Costco for under 20 dollars, and people love receiving them because they look attractive as well.

What me and my family did was we made a small crown and anchor machine (which is similar to a roulette wheel-simple to make. Email me for instructions) and we just bought some dollar store candies. If you have this at the brunch and offer it to the kids, (or maybe a little later for the adults) it gets more and more exciting.

Another fun thing to do is offer music and karaoke. I don't know if this is a family event or just a social event, but most parties should- I know I love singing at parties!!

Hope everything works out for you!

I have done an ornament exchange. Its really fun. Everyone brings a wrapped ornament. Then when they enter the party they pick a number from a bowl. Who ever is number ! picks a ornament to unwrap..then the person with number 2 can choose to pick an wrapped ornament to open or choose the ornament that the first person got.(sort of steal theirs) If the second person chooses the ornament that the first person got..then the first person gets to open another one. Then the 3rd person goes..they can choose to open a new wrapped ornament or choose one of the others that are already opened. Keep going until all the people had a turn. The best number to get is the last number because that person can choose from ALL of the ornaments opened. It takes a while, but its fun.

fondue is alot of fun if you don't have enough pots borrow from friends also you could make it a pot lock even a taffy pull grownups like taffy too

play games for gifts...monopoly, 21 blackjack, poker, and the house gets the donated gift for a charity of your choice
