We're hosting a party for the neighborhood and I need help with the invitations?!

Question: We're hosting a party for the neighborhood and I need help with the invitations!?
I wanted to write something catchy and witty on the invitation!.

We've been living in the same neighborhood for about 4 years, yet we've never had the opportunity to meet our neighbors! We just finished a big construction project, and now that the house is ready, we're ready to mingle!

I was afraid that the recipients of the invitation might find it odd that we're now (4 years later) making an effort to get to know everyone, so I was hoping to add something on the invitation that's 'light and funny' regarding why it's taken so long to get everyone together!

Come on English majors, and those lucky people who just write extremely well! Please help!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
We walk to get the paper in our night clothes,
Wave and honk to each other as we go to work,
and Occasionally fight over whose tree is whose!.
Now it's time to meet!
So come on ever and let's eat!.

lol I don't know!. I liked the first answer, though! It made me laugh!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I actually just had a party for the neighbors (many I knew by sight but not name) after doing a years worth of remodeling!. I don't remember the exact wording of the invitations but know I made it a thank you party for not complaining about the mess and construction workers!. Most won't think its odd and will be so happy they get the chance to be "nosy" and the chance to meet you!. Just to let you know ours was a great success and we have started a trend, every month the neighborhood meets at someones house or restaurant just to "catch up"!. Good luck on your party!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say not to emphasize the exact "4 years" part!. Only because then people will really think about how long that has been!. Dance around that fact and focus on the fun party and parties to come!.

It's almost the end of 2008
And it's never to late to celebrate
The joy of neat neighbors like you
So please save this date September 28
To make our neighborly friendship great!

Not sure about that last line, but you get the jist!. Hope that helps!.

4 years makes us practically family
although its about time we've finally met
truth be told we had to be sure you weren't crazy
now that we are; come party, **fill in blank*** !Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe you could thank them for their patience and just make a joke of how busy the construction is!. They might think it's strange but if they've noticed the construction, I'm sure they've figured out that it's been difficult for you, and I don't think they'd care too much - their curiosity and the possibility of free drinks will win them over!.

You could start with: You're invited to a party that has been 4 years in the making!.Between moving in and the end of the construction we somehow forgot to make time for our neighbours!.
For putting up with countless construction workers trekking dirt down the road and the noise of construction work without complaints, we wanted to say thank you!.
Come and party with us!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know about catchy but I would just make fun of the situation by saying that it took 4 years to clean your house in preparation for this party!. You could make the invitations shaped like a house with one part falling down or something!.

Really I think the neighbors will be happy that you're having the party and welcome the opportunity to get to know you better!. There might be some question as to why you've put off meeting them so be prepared with funny stories of how busy you were with all the glitches!. There are ALWAYS glitches when renovating so you must have tons of those!. The rest of the party will take care of itself!. Everyone loves to have a good time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
