I'm making dinner for my boyfriend and his roommates tomorrow. What should I make?!
I'd like to score major points with the roommates this week with something other than a pasta dish (made that last week)!. It doesn't have to be relatively easy, quick or cheap, just fabulous!. One of them hates seafood, other than that--they're big men with big appetites!. Any suggestions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Oh! Ribs!.!.!. I haven't met a meat-eating man resist Ribs!.
I suggest you get some Back Ribs, slow boil them so the excess fat will melt away and you will get fall off the bone ribs!. Slow boil them for a min!. of 25 mins!.
Then pop them under the broiler and keep slathering them with sauce ( make sure it doesnt burn though!.
Or you can do them on a bbq if you have!.
There was a couple recipes i've tried that were amazing!.
Marinade
1 cup (250 mL) apple cider vinegar
? cup (50 mL) Dijon mustard
3 tbsp (45 mL) brown sugar
1 tsp (5 mL) hot pepper flakes
? tsp (2 mL) cayenne
? tsp (2 mL) salt
Ribs
2 racks pork back ribs
Chocolate Barbecue Sauce
1 cup (250 mL) ketchup
? cup (50 mL) brown sugar
? cup (50 mL) orange juice
1 tbsp (15 mL) Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp (25 mL) rice wine vinegar
? cup (50 mL) finely chopped bittersweet chocolate
1 tsp (5 mL) hot pepper sauce
1 tsp (5 mL) kosher salt
1!. Combine apple cider vinegar, mustard, brown sugar, hot pepper flakes, cayenne and salt!. Whisk to dissolve sugar!. Pour over ribs!. Marinate for 1 hour on the counter, turning once!.
2!. Preheat oven to 350oF (180oC)!.
3!. Place ribs, marinade and 1 cup water in a baking pan and cover with foil!. Bake for 1 to 1? hours or until ribs are tender!. Reserve ribs and braising liquid separately!. If braising liquid is thin pour into a pot and boil for a few minutes until it thickens!.
4!. Preheat barbecue to medium-low and oil the grate!. Slowly grill ribs, turning several times or until brown and crispy basting occasionally with braising liquid!. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes!.
5!. Whisk Chocolate Barbecue Sauce ingredients together in a pot!. Bring to simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly!. Let simmer 2 to 3 minutes until sugar dissolves!. Cool!.
6!. Cut ribs in pieces and serve with Chocolate Barbecue Sauce and remaining braising liquid for dipping!.
( serves 4 !.!. but for men with a good appetite, i'd double the recipe!.!. leftovers are a mans best friend )
But you can look online for tons of recipes!.!. Cherry glazed ones too!
To go along with them!.!. you can go salad, loaded baked potatoes, sweet potato fries, anything!.!.:P
Good luck and have fun!
Oh,
Be sure to have some ice cold beers available!. lol!.
And i'm sure you know that you shouldn't rely on having to get bonus points for them to like you!. But i know what you mean about wanting to get the bonus points :) Www@FoodAQ@Com

In the fall, I like to wow company with cranberry chicken, wild rice, hot rolls and a salad!. The chicken is easy and you make it the day before!. The recipe sounds icky, but I promise you, it is yummy!. Place chicken breasts in a 9x13 pan!. Mix a pkg of onion soup mix, a can of whole berry cranberry sauce, and a cup of french dressing together!. Marinate chicken overnight!. Bake uncovered for 45 min at 400 degrees!. I use a box of Uncle Ben's wild rice!. Finish off with dutch apple pie topped with cinnamon ice cream!. If you want a vegetable too, broccoli or asparagus go well with this menu!.
This is easy since it is made the day before!. The salad is made early in the day!. A frozen pie can be baked earlier too!. Cleanup is easy too!. Enjoy a glass of white wine with your guests while the chicken bakes and the rice cooks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

STEAK - anything with red meat is always a big hit with my hubby and his mates!. Try making fajitas - marinate steak with minced garlic, lime juice and minced chipotle peppers, then grill/broil at a pretty high temp until done and slice thinly!. Serve with shredded lettuce, salsa, guac!., sauteed bell peppers and onions, and tortillas!.!.!. and mexican rice on the side!.
Or just grill some yummy steaks and serve with salad and potato wedges (there are great ones that are seasoned with salt, pepper and rosemary, you just pop them in the oven) - and make something yummy and simple for dessert - my guys like choc chip cookies!
P!.S!. There's absolutely nothing wrong with making a meal for anyone!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Another meal that would probably be awesome is lamb, couscous and a veggie like steamed carrots!. you can get greek seasoning in the spice isle and broil or grill it!. cous cous is easy to make right out of the box!.
For dessert go for something grandma would do like apple pie al la mode or homemade chocolate chip cookies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
