What kind of food should I have for my son's 1st birthday party?!

Question:

What kind of food should I have for my son's 1st birthday party?

I wasn't planning on making him a party but since he's my first child I can put some money aside and make him something with family and relatives! Keep in mind that the holidays are coming up and property taxes are all in 1 montth!
Any advise on something easy to cook and not so spendy (Keep in mind we are Mexican)

Answers:
just bake a cake

Since turkey may be on the menu next week, go with a big steak. WHo doesn't like that

i would go with if you have any cheap pizza places around have pizza and get a cute little cake from A store and that would be good everyone would get stuffed or you can sick with homemade stuff and get recipes for food

Keep it simple. Depending on the type of party you plan go for finger foods, like sandwiches or something more traditional that is easy and cheap to make. Make a cake and let him blow the candle out and give him a large serving to eat and cut the rest of the cake into small squares so that there is enough to go around. If it wouldn't be tacky, ask that friends and family to bring food too and have a "pot luck" party. Ask that they bring side dishes and other deserts and you fix a main dish or whatever would work. Your family will most likely understand your financial situation and probably wouldn't mind doing it this way. You could make the food theme something like "Bring your favorite dish" and then you can sample what everyone's family likes best and swap recipies too. That will give the adults something to do while the kids play and stuff. Good luck and rememeber to just have fun. :)

Check if there's a Little Caesars in your area. They have $5 ready made pizzas. You could also try making chicken salad sandwiches sliced in fours. Have Cheetos, Doritos, or Potato Chips, &Potatoe Salad on the side. You can also make fajitas!! ;) Yum! (I'm Mexican too!! ) What my friend did was get all her closest friends and family to each make a brisket and/or side dishes to contribute. It turned out really great!

Just make something the crowd will want to eat. He'll be oblivious to it. Get him a cupcake of his own to eat. But there's nothing wrong w/ cake, ice cream, and beverages, and nothing else, for a birthday party!

Make rice and beans with maybe some Chicken and a garden salad . With the cake (maybe ice cream) Thats fine . Its a party not a dinner.

crisp, chips, sausages, chicken, pizza, popcorn, chocalate, dougnuts, biscuts, croissonts, cup cakes, normal cakes, chicken burgers, ham bugers, beef burgers, cheese burgers, chick nuggets, milkshakes, smoothies, ice cream !!!

ENJOY THE PARTY !!!
