Can anybody tell me what a "typical dinner for two" consists of?!

Question:

Can anybody tell me what a "typical dinner for two" consists of?

I need to know what a "typical dinner for two" is made up of. For example, is it an appetizer, two main courses and two glasses of wine?
Thanks.

Answers:
Well, that depends on how many courses...

Could be an appetizer or two, followed by salads, then perhaps soup, then two main courses.

The wine depends on how much you want... a regular bottle is about 5 glasses so it is reasonable to share a bottle between 2 people for dinner.

Also, do not forget dessert... If there are multiple courses then you may just want a small desert which is often served with coffee or a sweet dessert wine...

It depends what the occassion is.
If it is casual-usually 1 appetizer, salad, main course (consisting of 1 protein, 1 starch and 1 or 2 vegetables) (sauce is also nice), and a dessert.
Wine, Beer, Cocktail or a non-alcoholic beverage should always be offered when the guest arrives or if you are at a restaraunt, be prepared for 1 beverage while waiting for the food, perhaps wine for the dinner-be mindful of what type of wine you get (as if you pick the wrong wine, it could adversly affect the flavors of the meal-but there are plenty of sources online, epicurious.com has wine pairing suggestions), and an esspreso or appertif after dinner.

I will say omit the appetizers . Just the two main courses and drinks, no desert either.

A couple of White Castles
