Pretty much anything that you could put 1 drop of red food coloring in. Onion dip, cake icing, sour cream, jello (which won't need food coloring)It depends on what is being served. Why not go with a pretty pink sherbet punch? All you need is 7-up or sprite, 1 container of raspberry sherbet and some strawberries. Pour the soda and sherbet into a punch bowl and add the strawberries to the top.
Plain yoghurt with strawberry sauce, red colouring in cake mixture or custard or biscuits. The list is endless, hey, increase her fun element, get her to help with the preparations of it all too!
Raw beefburgers.
Strawberry Angel Delight.
It depends how old she is.....
I make a tasty (my own invention) milk strawberry jelly (jello) which sets an imperial pint (US 1 and 1/4 pints) with orange juice (200-250 ml) and evaporated milk (140ml) and a block of strawberry jelly (jello)
Melt jelly in minimum possible water, add the rest of ingredients above and when it is on the point of setting, whisk like crazy.
Just before you pout it into the serving bowl, stir in some sliced fresh strawberries. Depending on your taste, you may want to add a little sugar while melting the jelly (jello). Nice for adults too.
Meringues made the usual way with a tiny amount of colouring added at the whisking stage.
About 1 pound of canned tuna, about 1/2 pound concentrated tomato paste. Either process it or mash it together by hand. This will be darker than pink, so add some mayonnaise or whipped cream to soften the texture. This is good spread on biscuits or toast.
Instead of making a Victoria sponge in a round pair of tins, use a rectangular 2 inch deep baking tin. Weigh 6 eggs in their shells. Take equal weight of butter and cream it til soft and pale. Add the same weight of sugar and recream it til sugar is dissolved. Add the eggs on at a time and lastly the same weight of flour (self raising - if not add baking powder). you may want to use a few drops of colouring to colour the cake part. Bake at about 350 degs F (180 C). til a skewer poked in the middle of the cake pulls out with no wet cake sticking to it.
Turn on to cooling tray. When cold ice with bright pink icing all over the top. It is nice to sprinkle sugared strands or nonpareils (100s and 1000s ) or silver balls over the icing. When the icing has set, you can trim off the edges (cooks perk and some for birthday girl before the guests arrive).
Now cut the cake into long strips about 1 and a 1/2 to 2 inches wide. One at a time, cut each strip diagonally, so the pieces are the shape of playing card diamonds. It makes a change from cup cakes and makes the icing so much quicker as it is all done together.
