make it fun a bloody Mary bar with the fix ens on the side let guest make their own or a martini bar try a quesadailla station with all the fix ens to make your own a round a quesadilla machine fish chicken meat cheeses salsa sour cream etc or tenderloin of beef sliced thin rolls and different sauces and cheeses around it then do mash potato station have mashed pot put fix ens around it IE bacon cheese gravy chives guest will mingle have fun making what they want for dinner no worry about the pickey guest

veggie trays are always great. Another thing would be little cream cheese wraps made with your choice of meat, green onions, and roll in a tortilla shell. then slice in about 1 1/2 inch slices. Makes nice party bites. Also bbq mini smoked sausages. you might do a cheese ball, different flavored crackers. varieties of nuts, finger sandwiches. Hope this helps

My friends and I are planning a Holiday party as well.
We decided to have a chic stand-up party, with cocktails (cosmos and martinis) and nice wines. The food will be all finger food, like toasts with salmon and lemon, Piggy-in-the-blankets, mini-mozzarella balls and mini tomatoes on skewers with Basil, shrimp cocktail, tapenade, olives, and more!

If you go for a formal dinner try a cold soup, you can prepare it the day before, an a roast, because you put it into the oven and you can do other things while it cooks, serve with steamed new potatoes and peas. Fruit kebabs as dessert. Serve with a good red wine.

For a buffet style, quiches always please and can also be prepared in advance. You can get trays of cold meats or vegetables, and dips, from the grocery store.

Get a topic - Caribbean, Danish, Chinese. A Thai party, for instance, would not be difficult - serve petjels (similar to crudites or the vegetables trays I mentioned), chicken satays (marinated chicken kebabs), lamb curry (I think it is called gule kambing), serve sambals (sauteed vegetables) and Thai fragrant rice on the side; mangoes and cream as dessert; beer goes well with this kind of food.

Go Spanish tapas style for laid back entertaining as you lay the bites in front of your guests and they help themselves. Foundues are also fun and you guests cook their own food, though for ten people you might need to set up two fondues.

I hope I given you an idea or two.
