What side of aluminum foil faces the food?!

Question:

What side of aluminum foil faces the food?

Does anybody know why aluminum foil is shiny on one side and dull on the other?

Answers:
It does not matter. The reason there is a shiny side and a dull side is all due to the processing of the aluminum foil. Both sides work the same exact way.

Answerers below are wrong, please read the following:

Which side of Reynolds Wrap? Aluminum Foil should I use, the shiny or the dull side?
Actually, it makes no difference which side of the aluminum foil you use―both sides do the same fine job of cooking, freezing and storing food. The difference in appearance between dull and shiny is due to the foil manufacturing process. In the final rolling step, two layers of foil are passed through the rolling mill at the same time. The side coming in contact with the mill's highly polished steel rollers becomes shiny. The other side, not coming in contact with the heavy rollers, comes out with a dull or matte finish.

The exception is when using Reynolds Wrap? Release? Non-Stick Aluminum Foil. The non-stick coating is applied during manufacturing to the dull side of the foil. Always place the non-stick (dull) side toward the food.

This info comes from Reynolds Aluminum foil!!!!!

i heard it's personal choice.. but if i were to guess, i'd say the dull side on the food.

Shiny side faces the food.

i always tot that shiny side faces the food cos shiny= reflect
so theoretically the shiny side wld reflect all the heat towards your food making it cook faster...
is that logical or true? hee..

The dull side, the same way it is removed from the box. The real question is what side of plastic wrap should touch food?

I think the non shiny side faces the food, thats how my mother did it. But its not safe to cook with this stuff.
