Question:

What would you recommend to have in a menu for a cafe?

Food & Drink

Answers:
Have a nice variety of coffees and teas.

Coffee and cake...lots of cake!

No question here. It has got to be sausage, egg, chips and beans. And coffee to drink.
Try Morrisons cafes, they do it great.

For breakfast, the full works with plenty of tea to wash it down.Yummy

Various coffee's and loose leaf teas. Also baked good to complement them. You could also serve tea sandwiches and something a little meatier to go with the coffee.

Home made things, like mac n' cheese. sandwiches, salads, cookies, pies, and lots of different coffees and teas

nice selection of flavoured, herbal teas, as well as the usual run of the mill tea, Along with a selection of different blends of coffees.Stay away from the normally greasy spoon type of cafe and go for the healthy eating kind. Plenty of fresh vegetables, fruit yoghurt's etc, nice selection of panninis, bagettes, jacket potatoes and tasty filling for all.Good luck hope it goes well for you xx
The comments made by Myshedsonfire he obviously doesnt know taste if he eats in Morrisons Cafes they use boil in the bag food. How do i know i work there

a good variety of coffees and teas inc herbal teas!!
food wise there should be more vegetarian food and stuff for people with allergies..eg wheat or dairy!!that would make a cafe that extra bit special to the rest..

Tea, Coffee and sticky buns, loads of sticky buns.

yes u should have a short one but with few items

For a cafe I'd have a good selection of deli-type sandwiches (hot or cold), soups, salads, and pastries/desserts. Froofy coffee drinks, iced tea, sodas, bottled water.

French fries, any other fried appetizers like onion rings, mushrooms, calamari, popcorn shrimp, chicken strips, buffalo wings.

Just a few quick thoughts.

Coffees, teas, sodas, smoothies, juices, wines, beers.
Cakes, cookies, sandwiches, small plates of finger-food, cheese platters with bread, soups, salads.
Sometimes you only want a little cookie with your coffee, sometimes you want lunch, sometimes you want something in between, like a glass of wine, some olives and some parma ham wrapped figs...

sandwiches, butter patties,brownies,donuts

Soup and sandwich goes really well

Have some original variety of coffees, and maybe littles cakes, like muffins can be great.

Cakes, coffe, scones, stuff like you would find in starbucks

lots of choices of sandwiches
chips with various accompaniments
simple things like snacks.
nice coffees
2 or 3 choices of deserts.

I could write a book on this subject... so I will give you some simple hints so your head doesn't explode. ha ha

Pick out something that will be a super specialty ! Something to put YOU on the map and people will ooooo and aaaaaaaah about to everyone they meet!
Examples already out there :

Like the place that serves a 12 pound pie.

The steak house that serves a 5 pound steak.

7 pound cheeseburger.

7 layer chocolate cake.

and the list could go on and on....

What sparks you ? What do you enjoy making more than anything? Play off that and make it a trademark for others to desire after!

Add to it a bottomless cup of coffee for a reasonable price just to get them in the door. Coffee can be cheap and you can draw the people in with it so they buy even more!

Coffee mixes *oink* and biscotti, cucumber sanwhiches....., yummmmmmmmmy

I have no clue where you are located, but I would have some things that are different from the ordinary .... some people do those things well, but I think it would be fun to try something just left of center, and something that you like .... something a little glamorous.... again in depends upon your location .... but, Amaretto Cake, or Spanish flan, fruit and a cafe con leche to go with it, some omelettes (plain, with herbs, with cheese and with ham) .and some really nice French bread and butter to go with them ..... a nifty couple of sandwich plates ... either a BLT or a Club sandwich, both with sweet pickles and potato chips .. a nice side of potato salad .... some German Wursts .... wish I knew your neighborhood, schedules ..... a cafe near a school is one thing
next to an arts center is another. ...some Viennese pastries ... some Middle-eastern desserts .... and things for summer: great drinks: those large plastic containers that have tops so you can take out a large iced tes, lemonade, a raspberry and lime soda ...
spiced iced coffee ...where do you LIVE, for pity's sake!!!! See, if you have any opportunity to do a take out counter, you could pack ice cream and do sandwiches and wraps ... Best of Luck!

Oh, yes... have a little shelf behind the register with little stuffed
toy animals and small boxes of chocolates decorated with ribbons and little artificial flowers... Cheers!

p.s. If you have anything a little unusual, be sure to have the basics, because that really is where your money is unless you are in a very chic neighborhood .... but still, have Coca-cola, ok?

Home made quiches, salads, panninis, baguettes, fresh squeezed juices, smoothies, a selection of teas(including herbal) and coffees, home made cakes and pastries would all sell well.

BREAKFAST:

An excellent eggs benedict made with a twist such as lox or jumbo lump crab.

LUNCH

Some really interesting sandwich items like: Roast beef with cucumber, roast red peppers and horseradish sauce on foccacia.....or chicken breast with parma ham, sharp provolone and honey mustard. Also some great soups like, shrimp, black bean and corn chowder, or lamb, turnip and barley stew. For hot lunch items a fresh made shepherd's pie would be great, or a fresh made pot pie.

DINNER:

Do some great dinner salads to start (do this for lunch too)....like spring mix with gorgonzola, dried cranberries, pine nuts and asian pears.

Entrees could include things like thai shrimp with a spicy honey glaze over saffroned rice.....danish ham, red onion and garlic marnara tossed with angel hair pasta, ......mix it up and make it different.

Good luck! (PS....if you need a great name, logo and menu....I am an award winner...let me know)

Allday fry ups, cans of Nourishment, and lasagne.

always something that is homemade favouities, lasagne, sausage and mash, etc

frappichinos
cappichinos
cookies
coffee
lattes

all kinds of coffees : cappucino, espresso, american, even the greek frappe (very popular and tasty)
for food try finger food, fresh salads, cheesecake-brownies-different type of cakes or muffins.
A list of pizzas are always tempting..
A list of vegeterian dishes like wraps or rizoto and one list for meet lovers like ribs or rizoto with chicken
Don't include heavy or extanagant meals.
Make sure you know well all the coctails and experiment with new ones too.
A good selection of wines and beers.
and you are ready!!

Add some healthy options, I don't mean just chicken salad and stuff like that. Try fresh fruit salad as desert for instance and main courses can be found in any healthy eating book, try anything from a GI book, easy and wholesome and tasty, have something for everyone.

how about mini sandwichies coffeecookies cake different little things breakfast and little snacks

Coffees.. different type... teas, hot chocolate (Add marshmallows etc.. or least give the option)

Cakes.. nice... oh also try find cakes suitable for diabetics too (Im not diabetic)

Food you could do bagguettes and sandwiches.. what would be really good is a choice of fillings.. so customers could pick and choose what to put in.

variety of pannini sandwiches
low fat wraps
variety of salads - cobb, chicken, caeser

full coffee bar (varieties of coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, sodas, teas, cold drinks)

pastries (for the coffee and dessert crowd) - pies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, petit fours, big cookies, specialty brownies, muffins, biscotti

also - this is not food but free wireless internet access will also draw a crowd as well
