Well, even though you are having a party with a lot of adults, I would still recommend cooking foods that are your son's favorites!. If you are worried about it not being sophisticated enough just remember that it's for your son's birthday! People will have fun with that! Right now it's very in-style to have parties with comfort foods!. If you want to keep it inexpensive I would do a baked pasta, which is very kid friendly!. You could make it really fun and do individual baked mac & cheese!. (Although 16 individual portions might not be an option!) I will post my favorite recipe!. Although if you want to make it really easy, find a nice boxed mac & cheese!. So instead of just the regular kind get the box with the creamy sauce and the bigger noodles!. Make a huge batch, then throw it in a casserole dish or into individual ramekins, put some cheese on top and breadcrumbs and broil the tops!. (However, mac & cheese is pretty easy to make!.)

I would serve the mac & cheese with little pigs in a blanket, and little hamburger sliders!. The pigs in the blankets are easy, just get little smokies, (I like the ones with cheese) and wrap them in crescent rolls and bake until golden brown!. The little mini hamburgers are easy too and you can make the meat ahead of time!. Then use little rolls, (the costco potato rolls are great!) and make tiny hamburgers, using a toothpick to secure them!. Then serve those with a big green salad all buffet style!. It isn't your typical meal but it IS a party and one that people won't forget! It's all kid friendly food, easy, and adults will love it!
Plus you are bound to make everyone happy with that meal!

Hopefully that gets the wheels spinning for you! Even if you do just a big baked pasta, such as ziti or lasanga, garlic bread and salad people are going to love it! You can't go wrong with comfort food for kids or adults!
Here's an easy recipe for yummy mac & cheese:

Ingredients

* Vegetable oil
* Kosher salt
* 1 pound elbow macaroni or cavatappi (see Note)
* 1 quart milk
* 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, divided
* 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
* 12 ounces Gruyere cheese, grated (4 cups)
* 8 ounces extra-sharp cheddar, grated (2 cups)
* 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
* 1 1/2 cups fresh white bread crumbs (5 slices, crusts removed)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F!.

Drizzle oil into a large pot of boiling salted water!. Add the macaroni and cook according to the directions on the package, 6 to 8 minutes!. Drain well!.

Meanwhile, heat the milk in a small saucepan, but don't boil it!. Melt 6 tablespoons of butter in a large (4-quart) pot and add the flour!. Cook over low heat for 2 minutes, stirring with a whisk!. While whisking, add the hot milk and cook for a minute or two more, until thickened and smooth!. Off the heat, add the Gruyere, cheddar, 1 tablespoon salt, pepper, and nutmeg!. Add the cooked macaroni and stir well!. Pour into a 3-quart baking dish!.

Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, combine them with the fresh bread crumbs, and sprinkle on the top!. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the macaroni is browned on the top!.

Note: To make ahead, put the macaroni and cheese in the baking dish, cover, and refrigerate until ready to bake!. Put bread crumbs on top and bake for about 40 to 50 minutes!.

This is 6-8 adult servings but with all the other treats you won't have to serve much!.

You can't go wrong with frozen chicken nuggets!. Kids LOVE them and adults will like the nostalgic feel to them!. You can make Kraft macaroni and cheese to go with it, and if you want something a little fancier for the adults, Rice-A-Roni!. The party is for your son, so everything has to be kid-friendly, but you can have some vegetables and wine for the adults, if you want!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Girl I would highly recomend u to hire a chef!! LOLWww@FoodAQ@Com

You'll definitely want your son to have something he enjoys, but if it's mostly adults I think you'll want something more than chicken nuggets and mac and cheese!.

I'd have some kind of appetizer to snack on before dinner!. My favorites are a cheddar cheese ball with crackers, or a bread bowl with spinach dip!. I'd buy a pre-made cheese ball and put in on a tray with crackers arranged around it, or buy spinach dip and a bread ball, then you hollow out the center and tear up the bread from the middle to dip in the spinach dip!. Easy and classy!

For a cheap, filling, and tasty meal for a large group make pasta! Maybe do rotini with a chunky red meat sauce, and linguine with a white alfredo sauce!. You can buy the sauce already made in a jar and boil up the pasta!. Throw in some garlic bread and you have a great meal!.

Birthday cake and ice cream will be the dessert!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
