Don't gag or, LOL as I did when my son first showed me this recipe...It is to die for!!!
Sweet And Spicy Honey Chili
2 lbs. ground beef
1 C. chopped onions
1 clove garlic (minced)
1/2 C. red or, green peppers or, mixed
1-14.5 oz. can of diced tomatoes
1- 4 oz. can diced green chili peppers
2-15 oz. cans chili beans
1-1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 C. honey
I also add diced fresh jalapenos when I add the other peppers
In a dutch oven brown ground beef.
Add onions, peppers, continue cooking until onions are browned.
Drain the grease
Add tomatoes, chili peppers, chili beans, chili powder, cumin, thyme, salt, and cinnamon.
Mix well.
Cover, and allow to simmer over medium heat, for 7-10 mins.
Add honey, stir well
Serve with cheese, crackers, etc. EXCELLENT w/Mexican cornbread!!!

Your first step is to used cubed beef instead of hamburger. You pick the cut, but I like to use small chunks of NY Strip after searing quickly on a hot grill.
Look on line for "The Colony Reporter" newspaper, it comes from Guadalajara, Mexico and they print recipes for Chili after the International Chili Cook-off every February.

Winning Recipe
Reno Red
Ingredients:
3 pounds round steak, coarsely ground
3 pounds chuck steak, coarsely ground
1 cup Wesson Oil or kidney suet
1 3-oz bottle of Gebhardt Chili Powder
6 tablespoons cumin
2 tablespoons MSG
6 small cloves garlic, minced
2 medium onions, chopped
6 dried chili pods, remove stems and seeds and boil 30 minutes in water OR 3-oz bottle New Mexico chili pepper
1 tablespoon oregano, brewed in ? cup Budweiser beer (like tea)
2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
3 cups beef broth
1 4-oz can diced Ortega green chilies
? of a 14?-oz can Hunts Stewed Tomatoes (or to taste)
Dash of Tabasco sauce
Instructions:
Brown meat in Wesson Oil or kidney suet, adding black pepper to taste. Drain meat and add chili powder, cumin, MSG, garlic and chopped onions. Cook 30-45 minutes using as little liquid as possible; add water only as necessary. Stir often.
Remove skins from boiled pods, mash pulp and add to meat mixture (or add 3 ozs of New Mexico chili powder), strained oregano and beer mixture, paprika, vinegar, 2 cups of beef broth, Ortega green chiles, Hunts stewed tomatoes and Tabasco sauce. Simmer 30-45 minutes. Stir often.
Dissolve masa flour into remaining beef broth, pour into chili. Simmer 30 minutes. Stir often.
I use Wick Fowler's chili mix. I use ground round for my meat. It is good !!!
ok hamburger ,drained well with onion fried with it ,red beans ,white beans,kidney beans ,fry up a green peper ,red pepper .onoin ,sauttee together ,add some garlic ,chili powder ,tomato jucie ,2 cans of tomatos diced ,fry 2 pks of bacon drain well crumble well and add and let simmer .oh my gosh its so good ,then on the side have some sour cream and crakers ,only add the sour cream if its a liked thing ,I love to put a spoon in my chili .so I always use it as a side item to add .have fun and do try it the bacon just makes it .

Red or green chilli?
now wwe are talking...........use fresh chillie for the heat, but for flavour into the minced beef when brown add ground cumin and ground corriander..........fry.......... brings out the flavour. add can of kidney beans.
i actually find that the flavour insesifys if you then l;eave it iovernight. and eat it the second day.........it just gets better and better. obligatory top serve with sour craem.
