Have everyone come with psychedelic clothing....more of the 80's. Disco!

I think a fondue party would be really fun. I've thrown one and it was a big hit. It gets everyone together because it's very social. Hope you have fun! :)

Cheddar and Beer Fondue

1 sack, 10 ounces, 2 1/2 cups, shredded sharp Cheddar, available on dairy aisle
1/4 to 1/3 pound, 4 to 6 ounces, Gruyere, shredded
1 rounded tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup German lager beer
2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
A few drops hot sauce
A few drops Worcestershire sauce
For Serving:
1 1/2 pounds cubed or thick sliced and browned wursts: knock, brat or brot,
1 package mini party franks (recommended: Boars Head)
1 head cauliflower, separated into florets
1 small jar mini Gherkin pickles, drained
1 small jar pickled onions, available on vegetable aisle
1 small, round loaf rye, pumpernickel or sour dough bread, cubed

Combine cheeses in a bowl with flour. Add beer to a small pot and bring up to a bubble over medium heat. Reduce the heat to simmer and add cheese in handfuls. Stir constantly, melting the cheese in batches. Stir in a figure-eight pattern with wooden spoon. When the cheese has been incorporated fully, stir in the mustard, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Transfer fondue to warm fondue pot.
In a large skillet, bring 2-inches of water to a boil and blanch the cauliflower for 2 to 3 minutes, drain and arrange around the fondue pot.

In the same pan, bring the cooking water back to a boil and add the mini franks and sliced wursts. Cook, uncovered until all the liquid has evaporated. Add 1 tablespoon butter to the pan to crisp the casings. Pile wursts and dogs near fondue. Complete the dipping selections with dishes of pickles, onions and cubed bread.

Chocolate Fondue

3/4 cup heavy whipping cream, reserve 1/4 cup to thin if fondue begins to thicken
4 bittersweet chocolate bars, chopped, 3 1/2 ounces each
2 tablespoons Frangelico or Amaretto liqueur, optional
1/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts or almonds, optional
Suggested Dippables, choose 3 or 4 selections of the following:
Hazelnut or almond biscotti
Salted pretzel sticks
Cubed pound cake
Sliced bananas
Stem strawberries
Sectioned navel oranges
Ripe fresh diced pineapple

Heat 1/2 cup cream in a heavy non-reactive saucepot over moderate heat until cream comes to a low boil. Remove the pan from the heat and add chocolate. Let the chocolate stand in hot cream 3 to 5 minutes to soften, then whisk chocolate together with the cream. Stir in liqueur and/or chopped nuts and transfer the fondue to a fondue pot or set the mixing bowl on a rack above a small lit candle. If fondue becomes too thick, stir in reserved cream, 1 tablespoon at a time, to desired consistency. Arrange your favorite dippables in piles on a platter along side chocolate fondue with fondue forks, bamboo skewers or seafood forks, as utensils, for dipping.

A Hawaiian Luau..that'll work. OR even better, a 70's party.

You could do a 70's themed party, of course, because they were born in the 70's.

Hawaiian Luaus are also always a lot of fun and easy to decorate for - and everyone has a Hawaiian shirt they can wear.

Champagne! (That's what I had on my 30th!) Have everyone bring over food. And pop a mix disc of the mid-80's in. Make it sound to the friend that it's just a couple people, but then people start showing up! Be sneaky! :)

Well you would want a cool party, not one that makes the m seem like they are getting older. like have a big dance like a teen party, make it like a hawian party well it depends if its a guy you have to find out what he likes but dont make it to suspicous but if it a girl, do a big dance with balloons, and color, if a guy do man colors well. i hope that will help you, oh more on the guy you could do a biker theme if they like to ride bikes. well bye

How about an old Hollywood mystery theme party. Everyone will need to dress up in old Hollywood glam and create a mystery pertaining to the birthday guest. You can get old Hollywood clip art on the Internet, such as a film reel, a director's chair and so on. You can create your own invitations and party favors or buy them on the Internet or party good store. Also you can look on the Internet for a good mystery party games and incorpate the birthday person within the game.

Also you can have a theme party of all the events that occurred within the year the birthday person was born. Make it a question & answer type party such as what was the number one song for that year. Have everyone dress up as rock stars that was big that year with big hair, leather and dark eyeliner makeup.

Try plumparty.com. They have party supplies and other things organized by theme.
