Why do wooden spoons have notches at the end of there handles?!

Question:

Why do wooden spoons have notches at the end of there handles?

Answers:
the answer saying so they don't slip into the pan is right, wrapping string round them to hang them up can be done but normaly they also have a hole in the handle for hanging

To tie string around to hang them up, before we routinely had drawers in kitchens.

So you can tie a string on it and hang it.

to hang them off things..O_o

don't know...........why do wooden spoons have notches at the end of their handles????

well every1 else has sed it, apart from robyn, who obviously hadn't read the other questions!

So they don't slip into the pot or pan that you are stirring

Also (in theory!) to stop liquids running down the handle.

So that you can have a Buenos Notches.

Hm, mine doesn't have any. Perhaps yours has notched up a spanking?

so they dont slip in to the pan. . .

Well my parents thought it was there so it would leave a welt to remind me not to do something again!

Because, the spoons with the notches double as oven rack pulls so ya won't burn yer little hands when yer baking.
