What kind of salad should I serve with Lasagna?!

Question:

What kind of salad should I serve with Lasagna?

I'm having a party and plan on serving lasagna - but I'm not sure what kind of salad goes with lasagna. And any other good ideas as to what to serve would be great. Thanks!

Answers:
Antipasto

Romaine lettuce
Sm Head iceberg lettuce
Whole cherry tomatoes
Fresh mushrooms -- sliced
Fresh green pepper -- sliced
Fresh red onion -- sliced very thin
14 oz can artichoke hearts -- quarters drained
32 oz jar Pepperoncini Peppers -- drained
Whole black olives -- what ever kind you like
Pepperoni -- sliced thin
Combine all these ingredients and refrigerate

Provolone cheese -- sliced, roll up and toothpick
Mozzarella cheese -- sliced, roll up and toothpick
Prosciutto -- sliced very thin, roll up and toothpick
Genoa Salami -- sliced thin, roll up and toothpick
Arrange these around the outside of a big platter

Parmesan cheese -- grated
Creamy Italian dressing
Add to salad at the very last minute toss, then place in center of platter

with the salad serve fresh Italian bread and butter
and the lasagna with toasted garlic bread

I would have fresh stemmed green beans too

OH and the WINE -- Chianti for sure
and maybe Valpolicella or Bardolino

Something green-asparagus, brocolli, etc.
Also Ceasar salad is wonderful. Make sure you get Ceasar salad crutons.

caesar salad

lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, cucumber, parmesan cheese and italian dressing

any kind of salad could go with lasagna, ceaser would probably be the best or tossed

I think a greek salad would be nice too... with the olives and feta cheese. You want something that is very simple...not too rich...in order to balance the richness of the lasagna. A garden leafy salad would be nice as well...avoid tomatoes and cucumbers. Stick with the lettuces and other other greens...good luck

Caesar salad or a simple green salad with a good, aged balsamic and extra virgin olive oil :-)

typical chef salad or a caesar salad -- and don't forget the Texas Toast garlic bread! :)

Traditionally, a caesar salad. It's good, everyone likes it, and it's pretty easy since you can get everything all ready for you at just about any supermarket.
Last time I served lasagna though, I made a big bowl of lightly steamed broccoli. That was great too, and way simpler (and WAY WAY WAY healthier) than caesar salad!
Just don't forget some bread - plain if you do the caesar salad, garlic bread if you go with the steamed veggies!

caesar

A mixed green salad, choice of dressing, and croutons on top. For a change, you could make a lemon vinaigrette.

Macaroni salad

get the meditteranean blend in a bag or do fresh if you want, but the med. blend has nice colors. Use a nice balsamic viniagrette (good seasons italian in the packet is awesome, you just use balsamic vinegar instead of red wine). If you want to make the salad different, sprinkle with crumbled goat cheese and raspberries (you could add pecans too or crushed pistachios). It's super easy but people think they are eating gourmet food!!

Caesar!

Meat and cheese salad with lots of butter.

I always try to serve just a simple and light green lettuce salad with only a few added items. Maybe tomato, olives, carrots, celery. Lasagne is so heavy and lots of pasta, the other stuff needs to be very light sides.'

they have these baged salads i dont know the name of the brand but the salad is called field greens my mom made that salad all the time it reminded her of my grandmother salad and she was from italy

I've always served the plain old-fashioned tossed salad...iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, slices of onion and just a touch of dressing. I sometimes just use the juice from a jar of olives as dressing. Delicious, yet appealing and light.

i would say a ceaser salad

cesqr or garden salad

a good one with cheese,ham,turkey,tomatoes

A caesar salad with caesar croutons or
Avocado salad-avocado, spinach lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and carrots with a red wine vinaigrette dressing

Sald---lettuce greens & whatever you WANT in the salad.
Also, a loaf of French bread sliced, buttered, sprinkled with garlic powder, then baked til light brown.

Ceasar salad. It's a favorite to practically everybody. I wouldn't mix ceasar dressing in the salad, though. Not everyone is a fan of it, so maybe add a couple other flavors; ranch, etc.

Caesar is good. But if you want something a little different, try cut tomatoes, cucumbers, and chunks of mozzarella. Toss in Olive Oil and Red Wine Vinegar. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Depends on the type of lasagna:
If it has meat, and garlic bread served on the side, I suggest keep the salad light, with no meat or crutons. Preferably, medium-cut , crisp, dark green lettuce, perhaps a couple of varieties of lettuce, with shaved carrots and a choice of vinagrettes for the guests to choose.
If it's just meatless lasagna, same as above, but add a side of chicken cubed or turkey as a side for the salad.
Still keeps the salad light and a smooth transition to the lasagna.
Also recommend a white wine, or ice water with lemon, followed after with bowls of mixed fruit & a dollup of light whipped cream for dessert.
Good luck with your meal....bon appitite!
