There are currently 4 seasons of Hells Kitchen, the next one will be the 5th!.
The diffrent seasons have had diffrent prizes, the first one I believe was 100K the rest have been a position as an executive chef at a high end restraunt!.
So yeah, the winners are 'real' chefs!. And the contestants are typically cooks that have been in the industry for a while, though there are some cases that they arn't classically trained, however from experience they don't last all that long!.
By the way, chef is used to refer to the top teir of cooks at any establishment, anyone below is a cook!. Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and maybe a Chef de Partie!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
