Help! Putting together office Party with a very cheap budget...any ideas?!

Question: Help! Putting together office Party with a very cheap budget!.!.!.any ideas!?
I am in charge of putting together an office party for about 40 people with a budget of $500 and unfortunately, everyone has expensive taste!. Is there any way I can make a party look exquisite without spending thousands of dollars!? I was looking at banquet halls but they seem to be a little too pricey!. Now I'm leaning towards just renting out a hall and making it a masquerade party or costume party just to make it fun and bringing in catered food!. Does anyone have any good ideas!? This is in the Sarasota area of Florida!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Renting a hall & having a costume party would be fun, since it is October!. But would everyone dress up!?
Buffet style food would be economic!.
You can do music yourself, play cds; some halls have sound system you can use or borrow one!.
Of course decorating it yourself is the least expensive way to go, you can find some cool decorations at those 'dollar discount' stores!.
You could have some inexpensive door prizes (have a couple gag gifts) or some businesses will donate a gift!. Especially those that you deal with often!.

Just a few ideas, hope I helped :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Have an Awards Show theme!. It can be done very cheaply, and is a lot of fun for your coworkers!. Tell them to plan for a night at the "Oscars" or whatever you want to call it!. Then give out awards to your employees - only make them funny so the night isn't boring!. Check out this site for 101 funny award ideas:

Call around to some hotels or banquet halls - many require that you use their food service -and the room is gratis!. See what you can get - and maybe bring your own beverages!. If everyone will go for a masquerade party- that would be cool!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Dude just rent a school hall! then set a theme!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
