buy chicken. It's fairly cheap and easy to cook, especially if you buy the frozen kind that comes in a bag! Cut into small pieces and cook in a skillet with seasonings of your choice and a marinade (several flavors available at minimal cost) Serve fresh veggies and garlic bread with it, maybe a little wine...some candles...

Go o yahoo.com and type in all recipies..you'll find the website there.( all recipies).....They have everything..It's a really great site! You'll find a great # of dinner ideas for you and your "college friend." (wink, wink)....JK :-)

You could whip up some chicken and stuff. Like, chicken breasts - cook them up in a frying pan with pepper and other spices sprinkled on top. Make sure you cook them long enough that they're done but not so long that they're dry. You can make mashed potatoes to go with, or cheesy rice (heat rice water, melt American cheese in there, I usually use 2 slices per one cup of rice, bring to boil, add rice, let sit until its not soupy anymore). Simple but tasty. Of course add other spices and whatnot to taste.

How about a nice meatloaf? East to make, tastes great, and cheap.

Get two pounds of fairly lean ground beef, a box of bread crumbs, a bottle of catsup, one egg, a medium onion, some garlic powder, and some Italian seasoning.

Put the beef and egg into a mixing bowl. Chop the onion finely, put it into the bowl. Add two teaspoons garlic powder, one tablespoon Italian seasoning. Put in enough catsup to make it all fairly wet, and then add enough bread crumbs to make it all hold together when you mix it up. Mix it up with your HANDS. It's the only way it will get well blended.

Put into a bread pan or cake pan and bake at 350 for about an hour. If you want to you can spread some grated cheese on top.

Serve it with mashed potatoes and a nice green salad.

Leave at room temperature once purchased (if you buy them that morning). With dinner try fresh asparagus, steam it in any pot until bright green. As a sauce for the asparagus, get 1 cup sour cream, 2 tablespoons of honey, approx. 4 tablespoons of dijon mustard, and 2 teaspoons of dried tarragon. Blend together, refrigerate....until ready to serve. Get a bottle of Cabernet wine. If you want cheap but good...go with Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon. Great meal...!!!!!

Chinese take out, so you two can catch up. Why do you need to spend time cooking, spend time visiting. Offer her a beverage of choice though, and provide dessert. If no to the above, baked chicken, rice, and a vegetable always works. Rinse, pat, season chicken, bake for twenty minutes, cover in a sauce and cheese continue baking, steam vegetables of choice, I love carrots, then cook the rice in a rice maker. Voila! It's done. Go get ice cream together.

Quick Beef Stew/ Soup My favorite "quick" recipe is more of an easy recipe than quick if you want to taste good home cookin. Brown a lb. of ground beef, drain off fat. Peel & cube up potatoes (approx. 3 med. size for two people). Then in your can food pantry, grab 1-2 cans of every vegetable. Open the cans (DO NOT DRAIN), pour all cans into pot, add potatoes, ground beef, and season to taste. To thicken slightly, you can add a can of Pork & Beans. (Sounds strange but works and tastes pretty good). May add more fresh veggies but don't overdo it. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer approx. 1-2 hours. Until potatoes are soft.

Bonless pork chops.Buy a box of shake n bake. Bread the pork chops in the shake n bake and throw them in the oven.I would have some brocolli and some kind of flavored fried rice with my chops.I would say the total cost of meal is about about 10 dollars.
