Hmm... a cheese fountain? But I also agree with the other person's suggestion... make a Mexican buffet... taco fillings, burrito fillings, hard corn tortillas, soft flour tortillas, tortilla chips, salsa, etc.
Alternately, you could have a choice of fruit slices and cubes with whipped cream, yogurt, ice cream, etc.

Creat them yourself tacos......just put out all the fixins....It is cheap and colorful and everyone loves tacos

for my baby sweet 16, we did rotel with ground beef, cocktail wieners, wings(BBQ&fried) 3tier cake and drinks, cheese tray. All this i was able to fix myself and it saved alot of money.

YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH THE USUAL FOR THIS TYPE OF PARTY... BAR-B-Q CHICKEN/RICE/BEANS. SERVE IT WITH SLICED BREAD AND GARNISH WITH PICKLES & JALAPENOS. IF YOU CAN GET SOMEONE TO MAKE HOMEMADE POTATO SALAD THAT WOULD BE GREAT TOO.

I also agree that the fix your own tacos/burritos bar is a really neat idea seeing as them people have more control over what they eat, but my added suggestion to this is for dessert have a chocolate fondue fountain with a bunch of fresh fruit, pound cake, pretzels, marshmallows. When I was 16 my friends and I would have loved that!

kebabs, veggie, chicken, beef, fruit,marinate the protein in your chosen sauce and supply extra for dipping,, also your fave dressing to dip the veggies in. Supply a yogurt dip for the fruit, you could do a chocolate fountain if you want it to be remembered(do them both, chocolate and yogurt, if you really care). Also a strawberry short cake, unless you have a basic recipe that is traditional, because it is light fresh and delicious. Also what could you think of that could be more delicious then taking fresh strawberry shortcake and dipping it in a fountain of luxurious chocolate!

This question begs for more information. Will all the guests be teen-agers or will there be a mixed age group? What kind of facilities will you be preparing your food in. Will it be done at home or a rented hall? What kind of budget will you be looking at? Will it be a formal or casual dress affair? Will the food be served or will it be buffet style? How much time do I have to get everything ready?

Not knowing any of these details, I could suggest standard youth food such as bbq's, potato salad, cole slaw, chips, baked beans macaroni salads and dessert bars.

Then you might consider something on the order of chicken wings or legs rolled in a mix of flour and all purpose seasoning, then baked, checking occasionally and basting away any excess flour. You could serve these with salads or go with mashed potatoes, veggies and dinner rolls.

Beyond that, I apologise for my lack of anything inspiring. There are so many great foods to serve at parties, but some planning must go into them.

You don't say if the party is indoors or out. Are the guests mostly other teenagers or adults? Do you have a particular theme? With that many guests you'll probably want to stick to what I call the " one- bite inky dinks". Mini pizza bagels or rolls, finger sandwiches, deviled eggs, mini quiches, crudite (cut fresh vegetables) with ranch dip, boneless buffalo wings on a stick, stuffed mushrooms. Anything that can be made ahead and either heated up at the last minute or served cold. That way, your guest can pick at the food and still mingle. Instead of a large cake which can be messy and hard to serve, try a variety of petits fours or cupcakes decorated in the theme of your gathering. Hope this helps.

From the way the question is phrased I assume you are self catering.

Check locally for restaurant supply stores. They often have things like sliced meat and cheese cheaper than you can do it yourself. Also they will have disposable serving trays. Get the ones with plastic dome lids, put crushed ice in the upturned lids and set the trays on the ice. Box stores often have rolls, crackers, etc., and large sizes of goodies for a salad like artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, baby corn plus they often have veggie trays, cakes etc.

With a little planning you can put out a real nice spread for a surprisingly little expenditure. Freeze the leftovers in sandwich bags to use over the long haul, if any. As I recall, when we had teenagers, one pass through the house with their friends didn't leave much that was edible behind...
