Planning a Victorian Tea Party?!

Question:

Planning a Victorian Tea Party?

A group of elderly ladies out to tea. What is expected from the hostess.Food etc.

Answers:
Little cucumber sandwiches in triangles (crustless), fairy cakes, battenburg, french fancies.

tiny triangle shaped sandwiches and of course, tea.

maybe a light dessert idk.

but when i picture a tea party, i see a group of women sitting around a round table in the middle of a garden, discussing a book :P

don't forget the fancy china!

best china sandwiches with crusts off white bread if you are going for a poor persons tea then bread and jam works or bread with sugar

Arrange it at a nice hotel or tea room, and leave it to them. Traditionally, the host/hostess pours the tea, but if waitstaff is available, they do it.

Dainty food, no more than 2 bites per piece. You dont' serve a big honking hoagie at a tea party, but instead small 1?" square open-faced sandwiches.

Scones are also popular

So are cookies and little sweets like small Lemon Bars or Brownies or baby Cheesecakes.

You eed to provide a selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones etc. Nice tea served in a china teapot and propper cups and saucers.

Take them to Fortnum & Masons, gorgeous teas, a real treat.
Or Harrods Food Hall has lots of delicious breads and cakes and a good delicatessan for items to accompany the latter.
