What is the best dessert to bring to a Christmas party?

Answers:
Pumpkin Cheesecake with Caramel Swirl

serves 10

Crust:
1 1/2 cups ground gingersnap cookies
1 1/2 cups toasted pecans, (about 6 ounces)
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Filling:
4 8 oz. packages cream cheese, room temperature
1 2/3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin
9 tablespoons whipping cream
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground allspice
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon caramel sauce
1 cup sour cream

For crust: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Finely grind ground cookies, pecans, and sugar in processor. Add melted butter and blend until combined. Press crust mixture onto bottom and up sides of 9-inch spring form pan with 2 3/4-inch-high sides.
For filling: Using electric mixer, beat cream cheese and sugar in large bowl until light. Transfer 3/4 cup mixture to small bowl; cover tightly and refrigerate to use for topping. Add pumpkin, 4 tablespoons whipping cream, ground cinnamon and ground allspice to mixture in large bowl and beat until well combined. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating just until combined.

Pour filling into crust (filling will almost fill pan). Bake until cheesecake puffs, top browns and center moves only slightly when pan is shaken, about 1 hour 15 minutes. Transfer cheesecake to rack and cool 10 minutes. Run small sharp knife around cake pan sides to loosen cheesecake. Cool. Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.

Bring remaining 3/4 cup cream cheese mixture to room temperature. Add remaining 5 tablespoons whipping cream to cream cheese mixture and stir to combine. Press down firmly on edges of cheesecake to even thickness. Pour cream cheese mixture over cheesecake spreading evenly. Spoon caramel sauce
in lines over cream cheese mixture. Using tip of knife, swirl caramel sauce into cream cheese mixture. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

Release pan sides from cheesecake. Spoon sour cream into pastry bag fitted with small star tip (do not stir before using). Pipe decorative border around cheesecake and serve.

Bon Apetit and Happy Holidays!

Christmas cookies. :o)

something festive, like cake platter or cookie platter.

chocolate fondue, with marshmallows, strawberries, pineapple and whatever else you want dipped in choccy

cookies!

Bread pudding...use egg nog instead of milk.

Yummy, super easy, and very holiday-ish!!

The most sugary thing possible. Cheesecake is also VERY good. God I wish I had some now (stupid wisdom tooth extraction)

The host's task is to care for the guests, not to have them do their work for them. Highly Rude.

Red Jello shaped as Christmas trees.

Sugar cookies

apple pie
cherry pie
mixed berries tart
eggnog flavor cheese cake
chocolate fudge cake with a peppermint vanilla frosting
cookies or cup cakes with Christmas decorations
bread pudding & rum sauce

Cupcakes. Cheesy, but they will be gone for sure.

1. strawberry cake
2. brownie's
3. christmas pecans
4. biscotti
5. lemon bars

Fruit salad. Always popular.

I like the chocolate fondue idea above....

Last year i had strawberries dipped in melted Hershey bars. Freeze them overnight , you will love them trust me.

TIP: Try white chocolate too yum mm!!

egg nog (with the booze)

I would honestly just bake up a few dozen Christmas cookies. Although they may be to hard to go through with the frosting and all. A simpler one would just be to find a recipe for "Mint Snowballs" or something like that.
Something different that sounds good :)

CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE! =D

BOOZE, unless it is at work then bring a non acoholic punch (gingeral and Hawain Punch mixed); everybody will have the sugary stuff be bold and different! If drinks are not your thing, try homeade dark chocolate pound cake.

Banana Pudding!!!!!!!!!!!

I got this recipe from Paula Deen show last year. It is FABULOUS!
Give it a try...eveyrone will love it and it is easy!
Happy Holidays

Savannah Cheesecake Cookies

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 stick butter, melted

Filling:
2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla or almond extract
Fresh berries and mint leaves, for garnish

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine flour, brown sugar, pecans, and butter in bowl. Press dough into an ungreased 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

For filling, beat cream cheese and granulated sugar together in a bowl until smooth, using a handheld electric mixer; add eggs and extract; beat well. Pour over crust. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into squares before serving. Decorate tops with berries and mint leaves.

There are obviously millions of desserts you can bring (just look at all the suggestions already). To make it easy on the hostess bring something that you do not have to put in the fridge (fridge space can be very limited when you are having a party), try to bring something that does not take any preparation while you are there (like you needed a bowl and beaters to whip up some cream) and best of all something that does not require utensils.

I think cookies &/or squares are the best things to bring, try to bring an assortment on a nice tray (the tray can also act as a hostess gift).

Individual cup cakes with red and green icing and candy stars.

Mmmmm!
I love just about anything during Christmas! But if I had to pick only 5 I would say:

Christmas Cookies & Cup Cakes
Bread Pudding
Pumpkin Pie
Pecan Pie
or Fruit Platter with lots of strawberries!!!

Cherry Cheesecake, chocolate cake, or hummingbird cake. Hummingbird cake is like a spice cake with nuts, pineapple, and bananas. The icing is cream cheese. It's absolutely delicious.

DESERT I LIKE IS CHOCOLATE CAKE ON TOP CHOCOLATE ICECCREAM WITH SOME CHEERIES IT MAY SOUND FUNNY BUT IT IS TASTY.

*Chess Pie*
Many people have never tried or even heard of Chess Pie. This is a different dessert that will delight friends and family, even while giving you a new topic of conversation for the dinner table.

1 Pie Crust
3 egg yolks
1 tablespoon flour
2/3 cup sugar
1 1/3 cup whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup dates (cut up)
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla

Prepare a pie crust as follows:
Ingredients:
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon shortening
1 cup flour
2 or 3 tablespoons water

Mix shortening into the flour with a fork until mixture is made up of crumly pebble sized lumps. Add water and toss with a fork until batter is moist. Now, using your hands, form the dough into a ball.

Dust a large flat (clean and dry) surface with flour. Place ball of dough on surface; then dust the dough ball. Carefully press ball flat with rolling pin. Dust ball again and flip, repeating the process until dough is eight to nine inches in diameter. Flip dough over rolling pin and lay it into pie tin. Trim edges. Set aside while making filling.

Beat the egg yolks, flour, sugar and salt with a mixer until it is lemon colored and light. Now add whipping cream, the dates, the walnuts and vanilla. Stir, do not beat. When mixture is consistent pour it into the pie shell and move to 350 degree oven. Bake about one hour.

Pie will be done when crust is golden brown.
