You are missing the main purpose of this party and you have already begun to make it a stressfull event! 3 year olds love everything! Music, pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, the basic party games, and adults can participate too. Get the adults up doing the hokey pokey, they will have fun too just watching your little one have fun!
At this age, they don't need or want a big deal, just plain and simple fun! Which brings me to the cake! MAKE YOUR CAKE! And although it is messy, let your child help you decorate it! How proud he will be when showing off the cake he helped mommy make...
And most of all, relax and have fun, when there are no other kids, just adults, you really don't need to entertain, just strongly encourage participation in all the games your son will be playing!
Have a great party!

I did a Big Ball pit for my daughter for her bday, and all of the kids loved it, that could be an idea to go towards it..

go to arts and craft store. do an art party.

you could do a costume party or have a little maze or maybe a scavenger hunt ( easy enough for a 3 yr old)A clown...sorry i know they arent the best ideas but maybe one will work.

you can call up a clown or a magician

Make sure his birthday is before or after New Years. Many of his friends would not be able to make it on that occasion. A themed party always works. Try to think of something your son is really interested in and make it the theme. i.e. pirates, Bob the Builder etc. Have it at home.

I'm kind of surprised and sorry that there are no kids in your neighborhood but since its your son's party, he should still be the center of attention. I'm thinking a costume party with all of the guests and your son himself dressed as your son's favorite superheroes or cartoon characters. You can have a huge yummy cake complete with all the burning buildings and tiny superhero decoration. You can even have a tarpaulin of your son made (dressed in his costume ofcourse) which you can keep for memories, aside from the usual pictures. Then you and your guests can play charades or pictionary with topics connected with the cartoon/superhero theme. You could have even the old cartoons in the list of topics so that you and your guests can reminisce your childhoods. I also think that the common clown and magician can usually still be entertaining for both young and old. :)

Okay so I have a one year old and though it's not the same and I have a daughter I do have lots of party ideas.

How about a Shrek Party?

I thought this idea was good but we have a daughter so I went with the princess theme.

with this you can still serve your pork, kraut, and rigatoni because it would be the feast part of the party!

Cake ideas would be a cake with skrek on it or him and a few of the other characters. Also if you are making the cake yourself you can make a simple yellow devils food cake and with the frosting add green food coloring. That would give it the swampy look......You can also put like gummy worms on them to give them the outdoor look....your choice

They have shrek bingo that at any stores and you can also get it at www.abcdistributing.com for I think $12.00 or something.

Other games that would be fun for adults and your son would be a scavenger hunt that could be easily found for your son and fun for the adults to watch and participate. You can make it about saving Princess fionna.

Another thing for decorations is at Party America. They have cut outs of the characters of your choice and that way when the scavenger hunt is over your son will find the princess!

If you need anymore ideas I hope I can help! Thanks

First of all - what is your son really into? Elmo, SpongeBob, Spiderman, Bob the Builder, etc. Or does he like cars, planes, construction vehicles? Does he like sports? What does HE LIKE. Once you answer that one - then that is what the party is about. You get plates, napkins, decorations, cake - with that theme. This isn't about the adults coming - they will just have to be satisfied with watching him open his presents, blow out the candles and play.

Second, you really need to investigate getting your son in a play group, nursery school, Sunday School class - somewhere where he can be around some children his age. SERIOUSLY - it is for his own good - or he will be LOST when he gets to public school. He will not have been socialized with children, etc.

I was in the same situation when my daughter turned 2. She was the only child - the rest were all adults. So what I did was I had a kids party anyway. I made fairy bread, we played pass the parcel, and did all the kids activities with the adults. Everyone had a great time as they got to be a kid again. I even gave out lolly bags!

I like the idea for making masks but remember a 3 year old still likes to stick things in their mouths so keep in mind the size of items you will be buying for this project. As for suggestions for the party I would find it hard to connect a 3 year old and adults, however if the adults are willing to be a little kiddish themselves maybe a game of duck duck goose (with walking feet) in the house would be fun or even maybe play a match game, or the best of my ideas go on a treasure hunt through out the house which at eat stop has clues to take you to the next stop(maybe havea prize for the 3 year old at these stops to keep him interested) also with the idea of the treasure hunt maybe have a list of things you have to collect but make it so you have to get them only from another person. Either way you will have to find fun ways to keep the kid entertained in these activities. But I think these are fun ideas goodluck and have fun! As for a cake idea how about his favorite character i.e. dora, bob the builder, the wiggles you can take a simple cake from the grocery store and take them a pic of the character and they will apply it to the cake or even a picture of your son
