We're havin company my wife suggested...?!

Question:

We're havin company my wife suggested...?

That we use her ironing board as a little buffet table, with a nice table cloth of course. Is that within proper ettiquette, " Cool or not cool" ?

Answers:
It really depends on who your company is. If it's informal, friends or family only, I would say "very cool!" Go for it. Also, tell your wife she gets an "A" for her creativity! I love that idea. Your friends and family will appreciate her idea and it can even become a conversation starter. As I said, it soley depends on WHO is visiting and formal or not formal.

If it's someone you don't know too well, someone from your work, or even someone like some of these people here that totally didn't like it and called it tacky, etc., then you would need to use something different. Ya never know! There's alway someone who is so worried about style and 'keeping up with the Jones's', and they would surely take offense. So for those who are very much into, you may have to come up with a different idea.

It depends on what exactly. How many people, and for what reason? If it's a football game, and you have 20 people, nothing wrong with that. IF it's like 5 people and just dinner with friends, then no it's not ok.

That's a small table!!! Not going to work.

Very cool! That is a very good idea, give her a kiss for that one!!

I think it's unique....never heard of that before...might start a new fad...just as long as someone dont bump into it really hard...then you would have a mess.....good luck

shazbotbaru has left the theater.......

She is totally with it. Give her a hug and kiss... and read about avocados....

Not cool. Unless it's supposed to be some kind of joke between you, your wife and your company, it generally wouldn't be regarded as good etiquette.... You could always claim it was a domestically themed dinner party...

that in my opinion would be rediculous

I wouldn't worry about ettiquette. Be sure the ironing board can't unexpectedly collapse and check out the way it looks to see if you like it. You could put something on top before the cloth to even out the shape a little. Be creative and don't worry about what someone else says is proper.

well no one will know, unless you tell

Cool if your trailer is big enough. Watch out tho it tips easily. you wouldn't want all those vittles on the floor.

The others in the trailer park will think you are rich. Just kidding...I would not use the ironing board, that is tacky. Do you not have a small card table to drape the table cloth on? Dress it up with some greenery too.

Not cool, and quite tacky. Go buy, or rent, a small table.

hey I think that's cool. I think they would find it kind of humorous! Whats the big deal, I would think what was on the the buffet would be more interesting to them then the the iron board ...lol right?

if that is all you have then go for it! make it look nice!!!!

depends on the encounter. if it's casual with your great friends then go for it! it might give them an idea...and your wife is very creative.

i'd say not cool..use the coffee table the end tables, but not something you iron clothes on..

Depends on how much food is going on it. But def creative. Sometimes you just got to work with what you got and with the table cloth over it no one will notice.

Uncool, you and your wife might turn into a laughing stock.

I think that's a brilliant idea! Especially if you have cramped quarters, what better than decorating what you already have?? Unless the friends and company are snotty, I bet they'll get a creative inspiration!

(Put the leaning side of the board towards the wall and try to anchor it well. I've never thought of this! We have a small house and that would work PERFECT.)

Cool man cool.

Well as long as you make sure it's against a wall since ironing boards are know for tipping over. It could be a neat conversation starter, tension breaker, especially if it's a formal occasion where people are already coming in feeling a bit nervous. To make things interesting, make sure the iron itself is nearby and offer to heat up people's food plates with it if they get cold. I'd think it was great and that you were very cool, funny people.

I would go with it, it's quick easy and noone will notice it's an ironing board

its a good idea if you aren't having many people.

If it is covered properly, and doesn't look like an ironing board, it would be acceptable. Personaly though, I would allways recommend using something a little more substantial. Just make sure that it is safe and can't easily be knocked over.
