Interesting Question....about bartenders?

How much do bartenders get, the lowest wage and how much can profesional bartenders end up getting if the work in a really expensive club?

Answers:
Usually bartenders make any where from minimum wage and up. They get work in the better places because they have experience.

minimum wage less tip credit which is something like $2 an hour, turn over is high. In order to get higher pay one needs to be the manager. a straight bartender is basically a minimum wage job like all food/beverage industry jobs.

Most bartenders earn minimum wage plus tips, some even work for tips alone, with no hourly wage. Depending on the establishment, its clientele, and how busy the bar is, the bartender can make an excellent living just on tips.

From a former bartender...
It all depends upon your location. What area of the country? I live near the IL/WI state line and in just neighborhood bars you can make $6.00-$8.00 or so per hour, plus tips. One bar owner in my neighborhood actually pays his bartenders $10.00 per hour, plus of course, tips. More bar owners should follow his lead. He believes that if he pays them $10.00 per hour, the liklihoode of them robbin him blind is diminished. (Probably depends upon bartender...).

Bartenders can make VERY good money. Depending upon the type of establishment, the clientele, the attitude of the bartender. The actual service the bartender gives you...as well as the attention you pay to your customers. Have you ever been in a bar where it's not possible to get a buzz because you can't get the bartender to make you a drink? They probably don't make much. They actually only get a 'token' tip from me. It's all about service, service, service.

Since they get tips I don't think many of them get much over the minimum wage. Men tend to tip bartenders much more than women. If you're a woman flirt a little (unless the guy is with a woman then just be friendly to both of them) and always dress well and look good. For men, to get the best tips: flirt, dress sexy and try to get work at a gay (NOT lesbian) bar.

it is like waitressing, the better the place the more money you make but it all comes down to the service and how good you are, I've made lots of $50 tips in places like friendlys, just by being good and pleasant at what i do

I will telll you what is normal in my area. We get minimum wage, no benefits, and long hours...but, if we BARTEND, not just be there, our tips, depending on the club will normally be about 20-25% of the read (til amount)...If you steal, and most do, you can make so much more depending on how management handles their cash to inventory. It is easy, but in a club that is regimented, if it is busy, you could make up to $1000.00 per shift (sometimes you have to PAY the club to work )...the kicker is you claim only a little bit for taxes...I am a bar owner, have seen all the tricks (too many to mention) and have tested the waters behind the bar to learn the many ways to make money...One thing....if you are a good, fair bartend, steal just a little to make yourself feel better at the end of your shift (money wise), you can do very well with all the rules put in place...remember, you are basically self employed with someone who puts everything there for your business, heat, hydro, stock, advertising, etc, etc....

less then minium wage. (because they get tip)
i live in toronto...so i THINK the bartenders/waitress get $7.25, and they they get tip's, which is a lot if the bar/club is busy.
As management of a place they could get about $10-$11 an hour which is ALOT with tip...
Most the time Expensive clubs is just the same pay as everyone else.

my wage depends on the cash out at the end of the night. if we have a so/so night, i get $7/hr + tips, on a good night i get $9 + make at least $130/shift. very good money and a lot of fun. good way to meet a lot of "interesting" people

They make less than minimum wage...maybe $3.00 an hour, depending on the state. They make their money on tips. Tips can vary depending on the club and hours.

Since my partner is retired and I'm semi-retired, we "rent" ourselves out as bartenders, and we charge $85/hr, with a four hour minimum, and we also put a tip jar out.......Remember, tipping is NOT a city in China......so, we usually make between 5 and 6 hundred dollars for an evening's work, say 5pm till 11pm.....anything after midnight is $100/hr......but I must also say that we work for the VERY affluent (read: rich people).

BTW, I'll do just about ANYTHING for $85 bucks an hour........had some interesting propositions, and then the "networking" with others helps increase our business, but we work the parties we want to work, and pass on a few if we're not in the mood for a late night screwing around with about 120 completely hammered people.......
