Daughter's first birthday food ideas?!

Question:

Daughter's first birthday food ideas?

I am having my baby's 1st birthday party on Saturday, and I am stuck for food ideas. There will be around 15 adults and 5 kids. What can I make that would be tasty, filling, inexpensive, and not as time consuming? Menu plan anyone?

Just Have pizza and cake

Crudities with Spring Onion Mayonnaise Ingredients

carrots
red pepper
yellow pepper
orange pepper
cucumber
radishes
cherry tomatoes
mayonnaise
spring onions

Finely chop a bunch of spring onions and mix into a jar of vegan mayonnaise. Cover and leave in the fridge for at least an hour so that the flavour penetrates the mayonnaise.

Cut all of the vegetables into ? inch medallions apart from the radishes and tomatoes which can be left whole.

The vegetables look nice arranged around the edge of a plate with a pot of the dip in the middle.

Stuffed Potato Skins

Ingredients

4 baking potatoes
1 avocado
cherry tomatoes
salt
freshly ground pepper

Bake the potatoes until soft. Carefully slice in half and remove the potato (I find it best to use a clean teatowel to hold them). Place the skins on a baking tray - the open side up. Pop in the oven for 10 minutes (200 degree preheated) to let the crisp a little more.

Meanwhile make the filling. Peel and remove the stone from the avocado and chop it into small pieces. Slice cherry tomatoes into similar sized pieces until you have the same amount of each. Season and then when the skins are done spoon inside.

Refried Bean Pitta Pockets

Ingredients

1 tin refried beans
6 small or 3 large pitta breads
lettuce
tomato
salsa (optional)

Warm the pitta breads in an oven or the toaster for a few minutes. I find it is easier to slice them open when cold.

Warm the refried beans. Spoon the bean mix into the bottom of the pitta bread and top with finely shredded lettuce and chopped cherry tomatoes.

It is equally nice with a layer of salsa or vegan mayonaise on top.

Mushroom Filo Bites

Ingredients

4 large closed cup mushrooms
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons sauce flour
unsweetened soya milk
salt and pepper to taste
filo pastry

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Make the filling using the mushroom sauce recipe. Take 2 sheets of filo pasty and cut them into a square shape. Damp the edges of one and stick the other on top. Then damp the edges of the top piece. put a spoonful of the mushroom sauce mixture on one side of the pastry leaving a gap around the edge. Fold te other side over to make a triangle shape and press along the edges. Once you have used all of the mixture, place them on a greased baking tray andbake for 5 minutes or until golden brown. Serve immediately.

Roasted Red Pepper Tarts

Ingredients

vegan puff pastry
red pepper
sun dried tomato paste

Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees.

Grease a baking sheet. Roll out the pastry and cut out with a pastry cutter. Spread with a thin layer of sun-dried tomato paste and top with thick slices of the pepper.

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes until the pastry has risen.

Baked Ziti, a big salad and crusty bread

I always do something easy for the kids, like sandwiches. When it is time to eat, I leave out some meat, cheese and let them choose. Then I give the cookie cutters to cut out their sandwich into fun shapes. I do similar for the adults but I buy crossaints and some special mustards, etc. to top their sandwiches. I serve dips with veggies and fruit as the sides.

on my daughters first birthday party i did hot dogs and chips and dip and cake and ice cream...the kids loved it and so did the adults....by the way the one who answered named Rachel....is she insane? no kid would eat that at one year old! and the asker asked for inexpensive ideas!

make sure your daughter has her own birthday cake to mess in!ITS ALWAYS FUN WATCHING JUST IT SUCKS HAVING TO CLEAN IT UP!
than have simple foods like fruits and veggies(strawberries,banana(cu... up),watermelon,carrots,peppers... like that), than have a meat and cheese tray(balonga, mozzerella cheese, marbel cheese, cheddar cheese(all bricks),salomi,capocollia,turk...
also have a tray with finger sandwhiches(tuna, egg salad, peanut butter and jam, balongna, etc)
than off course have a birthday cake or even cup cakes on each cupcake put a letter to spell HAPPY BIRTHDAY (DAUGHTERS NAME)
thats what we used to do for all the kids birthdays(1-5 years) it shouldnt cost more than $50 and shouldn't take more than 2 hours...and the best part is you can do it all the night before and it will be ready on time or you can go to your local grocery store and order meat and cheese trays, veggie trays, and fruit trays. Using this idea everyone is eating healthy and its good tasting... happy birthday to your daughte, and best of luck with the food prep.

Make it a potluck. That's the easiest way to go.
