How far in advance should I send out holiday party invites?!

Question: How far in advance should I send out holiday party invites!?
My husband and I are looking to have a Christmas party at our home on December 6, 2008!. We both have huge families and a lot of co-workers that we like to invite!. Since we know that people typically have a ton of holiday parties to go to in December, sometimes host their own, and people like to plan ahead of time -- we also don't live extremely close to anyone, but the furthest would be about an hour drive to our home -- we are considering sending out invitations (Evites) now, to allow people to plan their holiday schedules!. We thought this would be considerate, since people generally are very busy at that time of year, and we're hoping to have most people be able to come -- we wanted to "reserve" that date!. How early is too early -- should we wait or send invites now!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Send it now and just add the comment you stated here: :We know you'll be busy during the Holiday Season so we're hoping you'll save this date on your calendar for us to get together!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are planning to spend a lot of money on an event anytime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and one where you will have a lot of guests, it makes sense to send out invitations about one month in advance!. Do make you RSVP requests easy for your invitees to respond in a timely manner!. (You'll have a better chance of your party being the first, and hopefully, the only invitation they accept!.) I think a month in advance is fine, since it's still early in December !.!.!. then you could send out e-mail reminders about a week ahead (or enclose them in your Christmas cards)!. For weddings though (looking ahead), it's very common now to send out a "Save the Date" announcement about 3 mos!. ahead, so people can get their plane/hotel reservations, then send the invitation 3 weeks ahead!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it might feel a little too early!. Mostly because people are getting excited for Halloween, and probably don't want to think of Christmas!. They may not get as excited for your party as they would if you sent the invites out after Halloween!. I would say November 1st would be perfect! That is about a month advance notice, which is just right!.

Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's too early now!. People will forget by then!.!.!.unless you just send "Save the Dates" But I'd follow the six week rule!. Send the invites six weeks before the RSVP date!. That way people have time to plan and so do you (it's a good idea to have an RSVP date two weeks before your event)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd send out a save the date announcement in the next week or two!. After that the invitation can go out about 3 weeks before the party!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd send them now to avoid disappointmentWww@FoodAQ@Com
