What is that indian gum??? see details?

i had an indian friend , he was chewing something in his mouth , which makes his lips so dark red or brown ..and it has a good odor ..anybody know what is it ?? and does it taste good ?? and how to get it from a country other than india.


Answers:
He was chewing a paan. They are beetel leaves which has beetel nut in it which is so intoxicating that if some one is chewing a paan standing nex to me it makes me dizzy.

Stay away from it. Its one of the major causes of oral cancer in India.
