It it stupid to have 4 birthday parties for a one-year-old?!

Question:

It it stupid to have 4 birthday parties for a one-year-old?

Answers:
Unless it is because you have to travel to 4 different states, it is a little excessive.

If you are doing this to avoid having people who don't get along together attend, tell them who is coming and let them decide whether or not they can behave like adults for a couple of hours. After all, it is your child's birthday celebration, not a party for the feuders.

yes because at one you don't really appreciate it cause you don't know wtf is happening

I wouldn't call it stupid...I"m sure that the motivation is love for the one-year-old. It seems unneccessary though. The one-year-old won't remember a thing about it and may even end up getting overtired and overwrought. It's just not fair to a baby that age to party so hard. If you feel like you need to have four parties because there are people who don't get along and don't want to celebrate at the same event, this might be a good time to challenge those folks to break down the walls of separation for the sake of the child.

I think that you should have one party. If you allow your child to grow up being spoiled, even if it's just because you love him/her so much, they will end up becoming a person who does not appreciate the little things in life. Your child will definately appreciate one party.

I would say yes-unless it has something to do with in-laws not getting along-then keep 'em separated...

i guess maybe having only one would do because their to young to know whats going on

I'ts not for the child it's for you.party all you want.

It's not stupid if your invitees couldn't all get to one party because they couldn't get the travel arrangements done on time.

but if it's 4 parties just for the sake of having parties, giving the child more gifts, having more birthday cake, making more photo opportunities, etc etc etc - no that's stupid

I would think that at age one it may be too over-stimulating for the child depending on what type of parties you are referring to and how far apart they are spaced. Chuck-E-Cheese type vs. bbq with the family in the yard type of thing. One year olds won't remember so it basically for you but spreading things out would be more appropriate...ie, christening, birthday, first Christmas. etc. Remember, you are setting precedence for yourself for all of the upcoming years..this is the first of MANY...

Yes..the kid probably doesn't even know whats going on

Er.... yes! Is it an excuse for the adults to have a drink or five??

i would say pretty much- they don't even know what is going on and are going to care less

I would say yes too, like everyones saying is too much for the child to take in, they wont remeber it when they get older.

Thats like close to 8 years ago, my step mother &law had (kid you not) 7 baby showers for her.....................talk about milking it for all its worth. All so they can take it back & get the $$ instead.
Plus both her & her daughter are very greedy. more tehn half of what they got they took back. And alot of what they took back they needed the most.

So I think more then 1 party is way too much & greedy

not really, but if different people, wants 2 throw a diffrent party, den let d ball game begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the one year old understand about birthdays if not it is for you and your desire to be a good parent so good luck and too bad more parents are not like you.

We usually have a party for my daughter and her friends, usually on the weekend nearest her B-day. Then we have a small party, just immediate family on her B-day at home.

Yes How stupid is it! You are talking about a 4 year old my my he probably wont even remember 1of the parties letalone 4(I think it's called spoiling the child)

no it is their first birthday. invite a lot of other children.

It's silly and a waste of money. The 1 yesr old does not know any better and the party is really for the parents anyway.
