Designing a party?!

Question:

Designing a party?

So, my orchestra teacher has given me the opportunity to "design" the party after our concert. Our concert is Wednesday and the party will be Thursday in class..

He wants something that we all can have fun, but also educational and approriate..

You lot have anything in mind?

Answers:
the music - recordings of your concert
drink - non alcoholic - a nice punch, maybe sodas
food - appetizer trays - everybody can contribute
decoration - theme should be about your music, $ store has lots of stuff

Source(s):
just what I think

if your talking alcohol then get all the clear liquors gin, tequila, rum, vodka. sweet and sour mix, cream, juices like cranberry orange juice, and lime. then a good bourbon (maker it is not expensive)and good scotch(jonnhy walker)
now your to the wine a good red somthing with a good bite. i would go with a cote de rhone, a california cab and a zin. then a fat white a toasted head and fat bastered. the a lot of white zin for the lite weights.
food i would go with lite finger foods soom small sandwinches(egg, ham, tuna)
if you what some sashimi and sushi
good cheese and cracker
and dont forget the dips cheese, salsas, and onions.
maybe you already thought about all this stuff and you have more to offer but i think if you got all this you will have a great party.
dont forget the beer a couple of good american lager (bud, coors, miller)
dont forget the good stuff dopple bocks, oatmeal stouts, and european ales and lagers.

Choose the country of origin of a couple of your music pieces, and serve one or two of the dishes from that country. For a french piece, you could serve quiche or crepes, for a German one, make sausages and sauerkraut, etc.
Have fun!

You haven't said anything about food, but if you would like to do this cheaply, try this:

Ask your teacher to write a letter on school letterhead stating the purpose of the party and with a plea for food donations. Dress nicely, take the letter to local grocery stores and see if they will make donations or give you a discount. When I do this, I usually do it several weeks in advance. You may still be able to get donations.

Now for the fun part. There are a lot of interesting facts about Christmas and food on the web. Write down some of the weirdest and best and hand them out as multiple choice quizzes. Make up some weird answers to go along with the real ones! Winners could get out of class early or hand out candy. Be sure to ask your teacher if this would be okay to hand out first! Better yet, give a copy of the quiz for his/her approval!

Do a search on the web for "interesting Christmas facts", "food facts", etc.

Here are some cool websites for this:

For some reason, the entire web address I've pasted in here isn't showing up!

cans of soda on ice, a giant sub sandwich from your local deli or Subway shop, and lots of chips.
For a game, maybe play some game like have your teacher play a song that you all play only he plays it backwards and everyone trys to guess what tune it is. Play short bits of tunes and people guess. Or just have the guys from one section of the orchestra play only their parts, see who can guess what tune. Choose several popular songs and write them on pieces of paper, have the orchestra divide into random 3 or 4 person groups and each group draws a song from the hat- they then have 15 minutes to assemble an arrangement and then they have to play it, and everyone guesses what tune it is. Use a drum machine, set a simple but fun beat and every one jams.
have fun!
