Going to a potlock for the first time?!

Question: Going to a potlock for the first time!?
I am going to a potlock at my friend's place for the first time!. I have been invited before but never really had the time!. So i am going tomorrow and want to cook this spicy Indian dish (I am an Indian)!. I am not really sure how to carry it to his place as i will be cooking about 4 cups of rice + vegetables and stuff!. I need to take a bus to his place so what kind of containers should i take it in !? also is a spicy rice dish appropriate for a potluck !? We are all college students!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Generally with potluck you only take one dish!. You don't have to provide the rice and vegetables as well!.

Although I can see your predicament, as the curry probably goes hand in hand with rice and accompaniaments!. Certainly extra food from you will be welcome, especially where college students are concerned,

You can get from the supermarket little foil trays which come with waxed cardboard lids!. You bend the edges of the foil down around the cardboard to seal them, kind of like some takeout containers you get!. THe supermarket usually sells them in packets of 3-6!.

That's what I'd do!. Not very environmentally friendly, but then you're not doing it all the time are you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it sounds like a great dish to bring, to me you do potluck when you don't have heaps of money, so curry, vegetables and rice is a great nutritious meal for everyone! :) as far as how you transport it, i would keep the rice and curry separate, could you cook the rice once you got there to save you having to carry it!? If you didn't have any seal-able containers i would keep the curry in the pot you made it in, provided you had a lid!. that way you could re heat it a bit once you got there if it cooled down too much, putting it in a basket propped up with tea towels will help it from falling over and you will just have to be careful!Www@FoodAQ@Com
