Get a key lime pie from the grocery store.YUM,YUM.

cake...so easy when use cake mixes and ready made icing..or u could go all marth stwerat and make it from scratchbut cake really is the best thing especially if its a birthday party..or buy a cake that says happy birthday

Since it's all close family I'd go for the one-dish thing where everyone gets a serving, like a pie or a cake, rather than tarts or eclairs or anything like that. Someone is bound to accept the leftovers if it's a pie; a cake, it depends. Most people love blueberry pie, and they're cheap right now.

Boston Cream Pie is always good.

Death By Chocolate..it's always a hit when I go to family gatherings, and so simple to make!

You need:
Chocolate cake
Chocolate pudding
Cool Whip
Crispy Crunch bars (3 should do it)

How to make:
Bake the chocolate cake according to package instructions, ditto for the pudding. Crunch the bars all up, and mix 2 of the crushed bars into they pudding. When the cake is cooled, cut it into pieces, and place it into a bowl big enough to fit most of it into (what doesn't fit into the bowl, you can save for yourself!), then put the pudding on top of the cake, just poking it around enough to start the pudding going down thru it...don't worry, it'll get to the bottom all by itself. Top it off with the cool whip, and sprinkle the remaining bar over the top of this. Keep it chilled until you're ready to serve.

If you are looking for something other than a cake there are several different desert receipes listed on the site.

If it's a birthday party I would defiantly go with a birthday cake and ice cream, unless there is a reason you shouldn't.

Here's a wonderful recipe for Blackberry Wine Cake... yes, it does use alcohol hopefully that won't be a problem. I've baked this cake for friends on their birthdays and people always want the recipe which is pretty simple.

1? hours 40 min prep

1/2 cup pecans, chopped
18 ounces yellow butter cake mix
1 box vanilla instant pudding
4 eggs
1/2 cup cooking oil
1 cup blackberry wine

Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup blackberry wine
1/2 cup butter
1-1 1/2 cup powdered sugar (to thicken the glaze)

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Grease and flour a Bundt pan; sprinkle the nuts in the bottom of the pan.
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix and pudding.
Add the eggs, oil and wine.
At low speed, beat just until moistened.
Increase the speed to medium and beat for 2 more minutes; scrape the bowl frequently.
Pour in the Bundt pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.
Glaze: Bring the 1 c powdered sugar, wine and butter to a boil; the glaze will be fairly thin.
While the cake is still warm and in the Bundt pan, pour half of the glaze on the cake.
Let the cake sit for 30 minutes to absorb the glaze.
Turn the cake out of the pan and completely cool.
Thicken the remaining half of the glaze with additional powdered sugar and pour over the cake or you can sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Enjoy!!
