Looking for ideas for high school sport centerpieces?!

Question:

Looking for ideas for high school sport centerpieces?

Our fan club puts on a dinner dance and the centerpieces are created in the sports theme with each sport recognized. Any inexpensive ideas? We need to make approx 40.

click there and scroll to bottom...they are really cute centerpieces..that look easy to do yourself...

Also..another suggestion we do at our school...each "class" does a centerpiece basket with a theme...we are in the chicago area..so an example would be ..the Bears...and everyone in the class brings in one item for "the Bears" basket....a mug, a pennant, key chain..etc. then we raffle them at the end of the night in a silent raffle...we have raised $1000s doing this...

Ya here you go, buy a small toy car and two of those sports action figures, one a foot ball player and the other a cheerleader, then stick them in the back seat of the car with their feet out the window and a miniature case of beer on the roof of the car. Well only if your going for the authentic look.

At the local Dollar General store yesterday, I saw some cute gumball dispensers with different sports balls on the top to hold the gumballs. You could use those...they were about $2 each. Fill them with peanuts or M&M's. They had football, soccer, baseball and basketball. Just add a little filler around them...instant centerpiece.

I would go to a place like the Dollar Tree - Dollar General or Family Dollar Store. Go to the Toy Dept. You will probably be able to find cheap basketball, baseball, football, soccer balls (toy size) Then go to the Craft Dept. and buy foam blocks (used for flower arrangements). Then go to the Party Dept (this is still in the Dollar Tree) - and buy Green Shreds to cover the foam blocks. Take these home - spray glue the green shreds on the foam blocks and hot glue the ball in the center of the foam block. Then add ribbon in the school colors around the base.

If it is tennis - they also sell the mini tennis balls in sacks of four for one dollar in the Pet section.

Hope that helps some
