I would find old pictures of them from when they were first married!. Display on a large poster board and have everyone sign the poster!. Then have it framed!. When I hosted my parents 50th, I found a photo from their wedding and then a photo from 35 years into marriage and a recent photo!. Found a cake decorator at a grocery store that screened the photos onto a large sheet cake!. They are eatable!. My parents loved it!. I also did a powerpoint presentation after scanning 300 photos - to much work!. You might want everyone to write a favorite memory of them, draw from a hat and see if the happy couple can guess who said that!.

I used the colors from their wedding, which was aqua and yellow to decorate the cake!. The napkins, plates and cups were those colors as well!. I would recommend the cake and using colors from their wedding!. Have fun!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

We had a carry in dinner for close family and friends, and then an open house!. My grandparents eloped on Christmas day, never had a wedding cake, so we made it a point to have a wedding cake!. We held the party in their church, and my uncle is a minister there, and they got to renew their vows!. It was sort of the wedding they never got to have!. There are a lot of decorations available at party shops for the golden anniversary (50th, each anniversary has a color/precious gem)!. You could also find pictures of their party favors, or find out their colors and replicate their wedding reception!. Have family and friends bring in pictures they have of your grandparents over the years and put together a memory book for them!.

Congrats on their long journey together!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

For my brother's 50th birthday, they got an artist to paint on a canvas in one corner of the room!.
As the party developed, so did his artwork!.
Party goers went over to look and he let them add a few strokes to the painting, or fill in an outline he did!.
Before people left, they each signed the back of the canvas!.
Everyone felt they had a part of that wall hanging that is proudly displayed in the lounge now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Have someone bring a video camera to the party!. Ask everyone who is attending to tell a little story about the anniversary couple!. They will have a nice memento of their 50th anniversary and friends that they can watch over and over again!.

They got married in 1958, so you could actually do a "Sock Hop" theme, or like the tv series "Happy Days" - and play music from the 50's (not 40's - they were too young then)!. Yes, gold IS the color for a 50th anniversary, but you can still do black & white with gold - and decorate in a 1950's "diner" style !.!.!. posters of movies from the 50's (Giant, Rebel Without a Cause, Sand Pebbles, From Here to Eternity, etc) !.!.!. play Elvis, The Coasters, all of the "4" groups (Freshmen, Tops, etc)!. In fact, if you have Direct TV, there's a continuous music channel for each decade (802); and Dish probably has one too!. Use old 78's and 45's to put under plates of food; and stick a fat candle on top of a few 45's for the centerpiece (maybe get a model car pink Cadillac) !.!.!. poodle skirts, letterman jackets:) !.!.!.!.!.!. Make it FUN for them, instead of a formal party!Www@FoodAQ@Com
