What a wonderful event to celebrate! I know your grandparents will be so happy with all of your efforts!. Here's a few of my ideas for your party:

-Take long, long colorful ribbons and hang them (horizontally) as you would streamers!. Take some type of clip (clothes pins, black metal office clips) use them like a clothes line and hang various photos of the family!. You can place the photos back to back with 2 held on each clip!. People can bring them to share and add to the display!. Just make sure eveyones name is on the back so they can be returned properly!.

-Take some large sheets of poster paper/poster board (or butcher paper is best) and create a "Timeline" about their lives!. Start the Timeline at 1900 and add in large hash marks of every 10 years until you get to 2008!. On the Timeline add in (smaller hash marks) depicting various significant dates: their birthdates, wedding, college graduation!. Have all of the relatives/close family friends add in things that were significant to the family!. Leave several colors of pens so that everyone can add in their significant events!.

-Regarding music: Try to make a nice mix of everything from Rosmary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Ray Charles, Glen Miller, Bing Crosby, Elvis, Tony Bennett!.!.!.it will make them feel nostalgic!.

-Finally: Make up 2 dozen or so "Trivia" questions about your grandparents!. Throughout the night ask a few questions at a time and give out little prizes (candy, key chains!.!.!.what ever) for those who guess the right answer!.

It think no matter what you do, they will feel loved and appreciated!.

Good luck!-Karen

This site describes an Amazing Race party plan that is great for a birthday party, sleepovers, scavenger hunt, etc and is designed for kids aged 13 – 16, but could probably work well with a family gathering!. The “legs” of the Amazing Race party plan sell on eBay quite cheap (like $5)!. Good Luck!

Singing and acting from way back i think that is awesome!. i like that idea!. Could you try to put together slides of pictures of them through out their years!?Make sure you play favorite songs of theirs!.!.!.are u hiring a dj!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should make a poster of pictures of them when they were young and their children and grandchildren!.They did this at my Mother-in-law and Father-in-laws anniversary party!.It was wonderful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Have all kinds of old pictures in older looking frames of them as a couple, their old friends that will be there, and their family as they grew!. It sounds fun, If they're doing a full 4-5 course meal then definately have actual linen tableclothes and napkins There are tons of Gold plates and chargers on sale now since it's getting close to Christmans to help with the table scape!. Make a video collage to is another option, I made one for my sis and her husband's baby shower!. Real easy to do on Windows Movie maker!.!.!.like click and drag, and it will run on repeat all day long!.

are they doing a cake!? maybe do fondant icing and dust a gold edible glitter or paint over it and then use white fondant to do the decorations on it!.

dress from the era also, they had beautifulm elegant dresses etc during that time!.

maybe do a "glamour hollywood" theme since you'll be performing!.!.!.!.that would fit in with the color scheme also!.

Have them renew their vows! Get your minister to come and do it!. I did this for my parents 25th anniversary! Do the whole ceremony! Get her flowers! If Best man and Maid of honor are still around- have them stand there too! Get a wedding cake and have them cut the cake! Do a wedding reception again! Have them dance the first dance! Throw the garter and flower! Have someone do a toast! Anything that they do at weddings now maybe they didn't do when they got married!
Display their wedding album for everyone to see! Make a poster board full of pictures from when they were married till now! Ask everyone to help so you can get different pictures from different people!
Your ideas are good too! Play some music from their time!
You can go to a dollar store or a party store and they have alot of decorating stuff! Dollar store has good ideas! Get some gold and black balloons! They have those throw away tablecloths too!
