Need a buffet dish for a christmas gathering?!

Question:

Need a buffet dish for a christmas gathering?

I need to think of something to make for a Christmas gathering type affair. People are all bringing different dishes. Doesnt have to be traditional Christmas fare. At this rate all that people are getting off me is a bag of Doritos...any ideas?

hmmm, a plate of mini indian snack food, samosas and barghis. Or maybe those chicken satay sticks, sooo nice. Hmm maybe you could make a sweet thing a triffle goes down well with me. Or maybe you could do a plate of different cheeses. But I say mini stuff, hordevours, mini pizza, little sausages, cheeses and pineapple on a stick. Oh maybe you could do bowls of savoury rice. I could go on forever. Ooh I saw those crispy duck parcels the other day in Asda too, I like my buffets! lol Oh I know, what about making kebabs on a skewer, they would look fab. You could do fruit ones or vegetable ones.

mini nachos with relishes

make a broccoli, cheese, and rice casserole or a 7-layer salad. the 7-layer salad is very easy and very good.
www.recipezaar.com has the recipe for free!

We just had potluck at work not that long ago and I made chicken wings. It is a really easy recipe. All you do is take 2 - 3 sticks of melted butter add about 1 cup hot sauce (something like Texas Pete) and 2 packages of dry ranch mix. put all this in a crock pot or a roaster and let it simmer for a couple of hours. It is awesome, they were a hit.

Its easy to make and yummy to eat..I love it myself

a big bowl of tuna pasta always works with drink lol

Potato Casserole
1 bag frozen hash brown style potatoes
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pint sour cream
1-2 cup bag shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup melted butter
3 cups crushed corn flakes
Mix potatoes, soups, sour cream, cheese, and 1/2 cup butter in large bowl. Spread evenly in casserole dish, pour remaining butter over top, then sprinkle with corn flakes. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.

Lime Jello Salad

1-1/2 cups boiling water
1 pkg. (8-serving size) Lime Flavor Gelatin
1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple with juice
1 cup Low fat Cottage Cheese
1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened
1 cup thawed Whipped Topping
1/2 cup chopped Walnuts
1/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries

STIR boiling water into gelatin in large bowl until dissolved. Stir in pineapple. Refrigerate until slightly thickened but not set.
STIR cottage cheese into cream cheese in separate bowl until well blended. Stir in whipped topping until smooth. Beat into slightly thickened gelatin until well blended. Stir in walnuts and cherries. Pour into 6-cup mold sprayed with cooking spray.
refrigerate at least 4 hours or until firm. Unmold onto plate, and serve.

If you are really on a budget, then skip all of the add ins and just make jello according to package directions. Add two cups of cool whip to every four ounce package of jello used. Beat cool whip into mixed jello, pour into mold and chill till set.

ok dave....keep that bag of doritos, lay on a baking tray, smother with salsa and grated cheddar n grill...voila! hehe

It is yummy...honest! serve it with guacamole on the side or sour cream.

I think cubed cheese with pineapple on cocktail sticks stuck in a grapefruit that's covered with foil on a plate that has lettuce leaves for decoration looks good and a traditional fave.

Stuffed olives in a bowl also look good and yummy..

Also, you can get a dressed salmon (already cooked) placed on a bed of lettuce and decorated with lemon wedges....looks blinding with little effort!

Hope it's a good one!

Merry Christmas....x

Clean peppers, removing membrane and seeds; wash and pat dry.
Rough chop. (You can chop to whatever size you need when you use them.).
Place in zip top bag, removing as much air as possible, or vacume pack.
Freeze.
Use these in chili recipes, soups or stews, anywhere you want the flavor and color of fresh bell peppers!

really easy to make and it tastes great!!

Chili Cheese Dip

2 cans chili with beans

Take a big block of Velveeta cheese, a jar of salsa, and cook up some hamberger meat...mix it all up and make sure the cheese is melted and VOILA!! SOOOO yummy! Then get some tortilla chips and you are set....Just make sure you bring it warm...it will be the first thing to disappear!!!

This will last a good while on a buffet table and keep warm a good while, too. Simple to make.
