How do chocolate fountains work?!

Question:

How do chocolate fountains work?

what do you needto set up a chocolate fountain and how to work it properly

Answers:
I have one that's a medium quality fountain. Not exactly professional grade but better than some of the cheaper ones too. Just right for occasional use like at summer or holiday parties.

Chocolate fountains work the same way a water fountain works. There is a small pump or auger (mine has an auger, sort of like a large screw that moves the chocolate up...less maintenance than a pump) at the base of the fountain that pushes the chocolate up a central tube to let it cascade down the two or three tiers and back into the base again. One difference with a chocolate fountain, however, is there is also a heating element to keep the chocolate warm enough to stay liquid.

Typically you would use a coverture chocolate which is a higher quality chocolate and has more cocoa butter (about 35%). Some fountains are designed to melt the chocolate but I would recommend using a double boiler as it would be quicker and you don't have to worry about burning the chocolate.

Here's a site for a manufacturer of chocolate fountains. They have a great FAQ section.

Chocolate + Fountain = Chocolate Fountain

YOU CAN BUY THEM IN PLACES LIKE ARGOS AND ALL YOU DO IS PUT CHOCOLATE INTO IT AND THERE YOU GO YOU HAVE A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN ......MERRY XMAS

they just work!

Basically the chocolate is heated in the bottom of the fountain and carried to the top of the fountain via a rotating internal shaft. This eliminates the usual blockages associated with pumps - something Mr Wonka could've done with when Augustus Gloop got greedy.

Good luck with the washing up.

A heater,a pump and chocolate. The heater melts the chocolate, the pump pumps the chocolate and hey presto.............

They have a heating element. You add chocolate solid and plug in. The Element heats the chocolate then a pump, pumps the chocolate to the top of the fountain and it flows back down.

Well, you need to buy a fountain. It would be hard to make one yourself because you need something that will pump the choocolate to the top of the fountain. When you get one, they can be found at most retailers like walmart or Target, you need to buy chocolate. If you get just chocolate chips, you need to add melt them and add oil so it can be smooth enough to go through the apparatus.

Hey hon! id love to get technical but here are the basics, you buy it lol!!! give it a clean before use, warm soapy water is good, dry it
, melt the chocolate to your choice then pour it all over the fountain!!! simply tuck in!! profiteroles are scrumptious,go mad! :) infact pineapple, strawberrys, marshmallows are mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!
Bon Appetite!!

This article tells you the history on the chocolate fountain and how it works.

heat the chocolate then in the center there is something like a drill bit which brings the melted chocolate up and comes down to the base again

I heard from a close friend who manages events, where chocolate fountains are a regular feature, that the mixture you see flowing over the edges of the 'fountain' is chocolate mixed with OIL. The oil is added to give the liquid a runny consistency at room temperature. Heating the liquid is considered too expensive and dangerous.

I will never be seen dipping anything into this crap!!

Yea im guessin' u hav a lil dispenser, in the dispenser u add the chocolate then start it up. Im sure it will look beautiful.
