Assigned seating at a Bar Mitzvah?!

Question: Assigned seating at a Bar Mitzvah!?
I am planning a Bar Mitzvah for my son!. THe party will is designed to not be a buffet, but have stations so that the dinner portion is like a continued coktail party!. There will be twelve "food presentation" stations!. I don't want to assign seating because I want to keep the party flowing and there is so much to so in terms of entertainment and dancing!. Is it in poor taste to leave seating open!? There are are 90 adults and the dining room is a separate, adjacent screened in room!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hooru, I might be the odd one out here, but I was at one, the seating was assigned, it meant you could go from your seat pick up from a food station and return, your coat was on the chair, the other way is a bit of a headache for the guests not for you!. The way this one was organized was something I have not experienced before very well done!. I would say Hooru not bad taste as such, it will just end up people standing around eating cause they can't find their seat again, and that in turns blocks access to stations!.

The other thing is, I believe in the family unit, I do not believe children should be placed in another area away from the main room, when I was a teenager it was different, the young cousins sat together and had a great time!. We were not segregated though, The Bar Mitzvah I attended the children were seated with the adults, and so well behaved!.

Your Bar Mitzvah, I threw my dollars worth in!.

i cannot think of one reason why it would be in poor taste!. However, It might be a good idea to have placards with each person's name so that once someone does choose a seat, he/she can leave the placard there and know the seat will still be his/hers when s/he returns!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been to two Mitzvahs, and both had assigned seating!. It may be easier to have assigned seating so that it doesn't take so long to find seats, and everyone will be at the same place the whole time, so no one has to move everything to new seats or anything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only thing I might consider would be having tables designated as adult or child!. This way the adult tables can be adjacent to one another to make intermingling easier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

at my nephew Bar Mitzvah, my sister in law arranged for the family at 2 table and everyone else sat where they wanted!.!.it worked wellWww@FoodAQ@Com
