Well for 6-10 people you can do an arrangement of appetizers!. Depending on when and where you having the party of course, but assuming your at home or his home!.!.!.I'll tell you what I would make!.!.!.
Honey Garlic meatballs (Safeway/Vons has a great honey garlic sauce - sold with all the bbq sauces, and it is wonderful on frozen meatballs) Just pour the frozen meatballs in a crockpot and dump two bottles of the honey garlic sauce right on top, no water, or anything else and set them on low for 4 hours or high for an hour and a half to warm through - great party pleasers! (mine always disappear, only have to clean the crockpot when the party is over!)

Spinach dip in a bread bowl, and sliced baguettes around the bowl

fruit/cheese platter with pretty crackers displayed around the cheeses!.

Veggies and dip (I love to get Red and green bell peppers and slice off 1/4 of the side, lay it on its sidd - cleaned out- and serve your ranch or whatever dipping sauce your using in the peppers!) I would do carrots, celery, green onions, broccoli, cauliflower, cherry or grape tomatoes, and mushrooms!. (I Usually clean and prep all the veggies and put out a portion, restocking the plate as needed so they dont get soggy or wilted)

Ham and cream cheese rolls are great too! (use softened cream cheese and smear on thin sliced deli ham, roll up tight and cut into bite sized pinwheels - my daughter loves these and they always disappear!) Some people use salami, or roast beef too! I have seen them with dill pickle slivers or black olives inside too - its a method and you can do whatever you like - remember there are no rules!!!

I would also make a punch (instead of worrying about buying all different kinds of alcohols) I use frozen fruit punch concentrate (2 cans) 2 - 2 liters of Ginger Ale, Raspberry Vodka and sliced lemons and limes - Its a great punch!. I use one frozen concentrate, 1 2 liter bottle of ginger ale, about 3/4 a cup of vodka and half the fruit!. Mix it up and if you want to keep it cold, add frozen grapes!. They wont water it down!.
Have fun! Hope he is suprised!
