Question:

Christmas dinner on Saturday any suggetions other than turkey or ham?

We spent Christmas Eve with my family. My husbands family is coming over on Saturday. I don't want to prepare the traditional dinner, but something different since is will be New Years weekend and I am tired of turkey and ham.

Answers:
ribs! sweet potatoes, latkes (no im not jewish but its good) sauteed asparagus. i like flan for dessert, ribs are soooo good, they take 3 hrs to cook though.

Cook the traditional American Bass.

It's a southern Christmas favorite.

PORK!!!! In spanish, it's "pernil". Yummy!

Try an "ethnic" recipe! I have no idea of your background but there must be someone even a grandparent or farther back who came to this country look up, online, the recipes from that & cook that! I'm sure they'll love it! Good luck Sweety!

BBQ!!!! ribs or pork---or make a pot roast

you can go with an ethnic theme, italian, mexican, but at my house we have beef tenderloin or prime rib roast. Today I am making au gratin potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts w/balasmic vinegar, a salad with craisins, walnuts and blue cheese, my husband made his traditional sqaush casserole. Its easy and you don't have to spend all day in the kitched.

Fire up the Barbie and put on some steak. Grill some stakes in the broiler of your oven. Put a couple of large corn beef in a crock pot, then some baked potatoes in the oven. Pot roast potatoes and carrots in a crock pot, that's No. 1 for me (crock pot cooking is sooooooo easy) and if you crock pot is not bigger enough, borrow the neighbors and use 2

My husband is Italian. We are having a lasagne with 2 meats and 5 cheeses, garlic cheese bread, a nice salad and soup and to finish it off...homemade gelato...I think that's how you spell it. The Italian icecream that's really thick and creamy. I'm doing a coffee flavor. All very authentic italian cooking, with a nice bottle of wine.

My family gets tired of the traditional ham and turkey as well. A few years ago we decided that we would start a new tradition of our own. We decided that making a huge Italian dinner... lasagne, meat balls, etc... was a wonderful break from the traditional holiday foods. It caught on and has become our favorite....Happy Holidays!
