How much beer & wine should I get?!
I am having a dinner party this weekend (serving a full turkey dinner)!. There will be between 17-23 guests (a few haven't RSVP'd yet)!. All of the guests are in mid to late 20's and some will be carpooling so that they can drink and not have to worry about driving!.

I would say 6-8 bottles of wine, maybe a case or two of beer, and a couple bottles of hard liquor and mixers- like whiskey and sour mix, or vodka and martini mix!. I am assuming that because you used the term "dinner party" you don't want people to get absolutely trashed so I would say less is better that way when it's gone, it's gone- plus some people might bring a bottle of wine or 6-pack of beer with them!. When I did catering we did the calculations this way:
pre-dinner cocktails (wine & beer) - 2 4 oz!. drinks per female, 3 4 oz!. drinks per male or 2 beers
dinner (wine & beer) - 1!.5 glasses per female, 2 glasses or beers per male
every hour post dinner - 1 4 oz!. glass per female, 2 glasses or 2 beers per male up to 3 hours!.
So, in a normal dinner party a female drinking a lot would consume 6 drinks, a male 8-9 of wine or beer!. If you use this as the basis, you'll have more than enough alcohol!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I work in a wine store and I'd say if people plan to have 1-2 glasses of wine each, get about 12 bottles (750ml) or 6 bottles (1!.5l) total of Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauv!. Blanc or a Riesling whichever of those you prefer and for the beer I'd say get a little pony keg because that'll be most cost efficient!. If people plan to get absolutely hammered, you may want to consider getting an additional 24 pack of beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

3 kegs of beer should do it, MAYBE 4!. As for wine, 1 case should be good!. Since peopel are carpooling, chances are you're going to have a lot of thirsty people if ya catch my drift!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
