Wedding dinner/ small reception menu?!

Question: Wedding dinner/ small reception menu!?
I will be having my wedding dinner/ reception at my house pretty soon!. I want to have appetizers for them instead of a really heavy sit down dinner (not enough tables or chairs for that)!. also, I didn't want the normal fruit trays or veggie trays!. There will be around 20 people, age range from 8 years old to a few in their 50s!. In addition, I would like something that represented our cultures!.!.!. American and Hispanic!. I do know that I will be getting a sushi tray from a local restaurant because our first date was there!. Any ideas!? I'm not against store bought either! Thank youWww@FoodAQ@Com

Ooh wow, you can do it in many different ways!. I would since you are having a small reception, get everyone to bring something!. Both cultures will bring something they love!. Or if you want some ideas here's a few,

Meatballs - 2 packages frozen meatballs, 1 large jar of grape jelly, 2 tblspns soy sauce, 1 bottle chili sauce, and 1 package chili seasoning!.
Brown meatballs, put in crockpot, add all other ingrediants, put on low heat, and serve with tooth picks!.

Stuffed Mushrooms - 2 packages button mushrooms, rinsed and stem taken out, then combine in seperate bowl, 2 pkgs cream cheese, 1/2 pkg of shredded cheese (mexican blend), 1 pint crab meat, and 1 green onion chopped!. Then add mixture to mushrooms!. Place in baking dish, and fill 1/4 of pan with water!. Place in oven 350 for 35-40 minutes until top of filling is golden!.

Bread/Dip bowl!. - Get a BIG bread circle loaf, cut top out (just like doing a pumpkin) and fill with spinach/artichoke dip!. Serve with spoon and little baguets!. Yum!.

also, for Hispanic culture, here's a dip, + salsa to go with it!.

1 lb hamburger meat - brown w/ 1 chopped onion
1 BIG pkg of valvetta cheese - cut into cubes
2 pkgs - taco seasoning

add to Crock Pot, serve with Tortilla chips, serve in addition next to that a salsa YOU made!. Take 2 whole tomatos, cut in half, 1 jalepeno- leave whole, 1 onion cut in half, place in skillet, and BURN!. once skin is burnt, place in blender, add 2 tble spns hot sauce, 1 tblspn vinegar, and blend!. If it is too spicy, add a little sugar!. Just a little!. And watch how fast it goes!.

Good luck, hope this helps!. And Congrats on the Marriage!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How about one of those 5-foot-long subs from a sandwich shop!? They're a lot of fun and great for parties of the size you're talking about!. That could represent American fare, since I can't think of anything more American than a sandwich!.

As for Hispanic cuisine, my fiance's family is of Hispanic descent and they always make the most delicious little cream cheese and jalapeno rolls!. What you do is take a tortilla, spread it with a mixture of cream cheese and sour cream, add black olives and jalapenos, roll it up like a burrito, and slice it into little rolls!. They're so delicious- I could eat like a pound of them! Pretty much any Mexican restaurant knows how to make them, too, if you'd rather have someone else make them!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I recently had the same problem between Greek and American!. We are each doing a course from each culture!. You could talk to you fiance and each pick 3-4 appetizers from each culture plus a dessert from each and the cake of course!. Good luck to you and and yours!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Definitely have cheese, crackers and grapes!. You can buy many appetizers in the frozen deptartment!. They have great little spinache in filot dough and other things available!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

taquitos (store bought or you can make your own - make them small with tooth picks), ham rolls, pigs in a blanket, tortilla chips and multiple salsas/cheesesWww@FoodAQ@Com

try itallian food, or maybee indianWww@FoodAQ@Com

meatballs, mini quiches, taquitos, things like that!.!.!.easy finger foods would work best!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would suggest lasona, or at least some kind of pasta!. Just a thought!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think your sushi idea is great! You are a romantic, and you want this to be nice!. There are a lot of good ideas already, so I am just going to add to the list!. Here are my thoughts!.

You can buy the seven layer dip - beans, cheese, guacamole, etc!. and serve with nice chips!.!.!.!.put them in the oven and toast them to give them a better flavor!. Adding a variety of salas will spread out the possibilities of this!.!.!.!.mango salsa, salsa verde, and you could either buy this from a restaurant or try Costco!.!.!.they have some nice ones!.

Little cocktail sausages in a sweetened barbecue sauce is yummy, and American!. You could even make little pigs in the blankets too!.!.!.easy and can be re-heated!. Little pots of mustard/ketchup could be the garnish for those!.

A platter of sliced (I like very thinly sliced) ham with a cheese platter (again sliced) could be your centerpiece, and serve with rolls and some pots of mustard and mayonnaise and they could make their own sandwiches!.!.!.!.or as some people prefer just either!. Lettuce could be both a garnish and used for the sandwiches!.

Enchiladas are great, as they are easy to pre-make, and can be bought and then heated and put in a warming pan with Sterno!. Cheese, meat, whatever!.!.!.they are yummy to us all!. Rice is a great accompaniment and can be made ahead as well, or ordered from a restaurant!.

Relishes also would give some flavor and color!.!.!.pickles, olives, peppers!.!.!.!.maybe a little bit of veggies that reflect your heritages!.!.!.!.jicima, chayote, dills, sweets, bread and butter!.!.!.!.

As long as we have tortilla chips, perhaps potato chips would be welcome too!. You could try a variety of flavors or simply stick to the traditional ones!.

The taquitos, little corn dogs, bite-sized quiches, check the freezer section and pick out ones that you think the guests would like!.!.!.but I don't think you would need too many!.

Of course you are going to have beverages and the most beautiful cake!. or will it be a tower of cupcakes!? (I personally think that is so much fun and so beautiful!.) Whatever you choose, you will have a great time, and that is what is most important and what you will remember!. It is not the weding that needs the most attention, but the marriage!. Just have a good time and enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com
