Don't get Pizza Hut, everyone says there pastas aren't good!. You could just order hot wings, pizza, and a party sub from Subway or wherever!. You can pick the sub up before the party and have the pizza and wings delivered!. 100 wings and 3 large pizzas should cost about $75!. And the sub shouldn't be but $30 or so!. Hope that helps!. Hope your hubby has a great birthday!Www@FoodAQ@Com

How about some nice simple easy treats!?
If you have a crockpot you can make meatballs!. (Safeway & Vons have this great Honey Garlic sauce if you have them in your area!.)
You could do a meat and cheese platter with croissants - and a tray of veggies to go on little sandwiches!. (You can use Bell Peppers as Mayo and Mustard containers on your veggie platter too)
You can do a nice simple veggie platter and put some ranch in another bell pepper (maybe using a red, green, and yellow or orange to give the platters some color) On a budget, this would be a nice easy way to feed your guest!.
You could also do a spinach dip in a bread bowl and around the bread bowl you could do sliced baguettes for dipping!. These are always good party foods!. You could also do deviled eggs!. Depending on how much you want to feed your guests!. Sometimes the cold foods are a lot easier, you can prepare them in advance, they are a bit simpler, still appreciated!.!.!.And personally my opinion is that warm and hot foods once turned cold are ignored!. For parties, I try to keep it simple since the food is going to be sitting out!. AND I think people appreciate it more if its something you put together, rather than you running out and buying some storebought food!. Hope this helps! Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

From my years from working with caterers in So Calif the ideas are endless!.
Do you like Mexican!?
Cream Cheese tacos!.
Boneless Breast Chicken, simmer with lots of sliced bell pepper and onion!. When done, take a plastic spacula and chop up the meat or remove it and cut up, and return to pan, put in enough cream cheese to make the sauce, say 1 package to 3 pounds of meat, and slowly cook until melted!.
Serve with flour tortillas, chop tomatoes, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, jalapenos, and sliced limes along with any other condiments you enjoy!.
Get a few types of salsas, mango, pineapple, hot mild green and put out a few types of chips!. You could do a pot of refried beans and spanish rice, or black beans and steamed rice!. Fresh veggie and fruit platter!. Simple but good!. In your budget and not really much prep time since you can buy just about all of this cut chopped or cooked!. You could even use canned chicken and then start the recipe if your pressed for time!.
Like Thai more!?
Buy bagged cut iceburg lettuce, large good quality cashews and leave whole, plenty of chopped green onion, and use a thai peanut sauce *not dressing!. Add chicken or any other veggies, and use plenty of Chinese noodles thrown in!.
Buy about 7 orders of Pad Thai at any local thai restaurant, put all together in a pan or chaffer and decorate with ground nuts, grated carrot something to make it "look" homemade!. Serve with assorted sliced fruits, those different snack mixes available at Asian markets, and for desert some nice sorbets in exotic flavors would be nice!.
Fondue it!!! Chocolate fountain it!! Theres the walk in the door quick pick up snack, the lets dig in snack meal and desert!. Homemade or bought and presented as homemade works just as good!. Suprise him!

Here's an idea, if you have a Mimi's Cafe (restaurant chain) near you, they have an incredible menu for such events!. Their french onion soup is absolutely fantastic, and they have a spinach/artichoke dip platter that is out of this world!. They can be found online www!.mimiscafe!.com to find one that may be near you!. They also have more items than the ones i listed, all are equally as good, and very affordable!. Check them out!. You can't go wrong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If there's a local pizza place or some other type of restaurant, they might be willing to cut you a deal if you tell them you're shopping around!. Just call every place around that's privately owned/small business-ish!. COmpare prices and barter like never before!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would go GOURMET burgers! I mean gourmet! Buy the best meat that you can find!. We have a restaurant - Fuddruckers - that makes the best burgers and grinds their own mean!. They sell the patties, and that is what I buy for the best!. You could have them cooked almost to the degree of doneness, and then finish them off in the oven, just before the time to serve!. If you are worried, you could also have some chicken breasts and veggie burgers for non-beef eaters too!. I also buy the best buns!.!.!.!.Costco has Kaiser rolls that are fabulous!. (Their meat is awesome, so you could make 1/2 or 1 pound burger patties yourself!.) Then make the things that go on top: grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, grilled pineapple, special cheeses!.!.!.!.we have Barney's in the Bay area, and they have a whole menu full of the best burger combos!. I would make a condiment bar where the guests can make whatever kind of burger they want!. Forty is kinda funky, and this would be more on the casual side!.

Then there are the fries!. Maybe you could get a friend to man this, as it really is important to make excellent fries!. Just slice fresh potatoes and pre-cook them!. Then fry them up and serve them to the guests!. I would also have some specialty chips too!. Honey-mustard, ketchup, barbecue and sauces that are your favorites could be hand near the fries!.

You could have a refreshment bar full of poured drinks (to save money or cans/bottles!. Put them in a decorated tub and you are good to go!.

What is a birthday without a cake!? I love cupcakes, and these would be so easy to make ahead!. That would give you a lot of variety, and you could frost them and add whatever kind of sprinkels/decorations you like!. That could bring in your theme and really say happy birthday!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
