Am I going all out or making this tacky?!

Question:

Am I going all out or making this tacky?

I posted a question about what kind of oil to use with fondue. And the responses I got back were fine but now I feel like I'm doing too much. I plan to make a cheese fondue for an appetizer and also have beef & chicken for the main meal. I'm also having a dinner salad and baked potatoes. My dippers for the cheese are going to be brocolli, cauliflower, celery, and bread. I'm also going to have some fresh fruit for looks. The cheese is a ranch dressing mixed up type thing. I've had all of this when I went out to eat at a fondue restaurant. This is what they brought!!! Is this too much??? Oh and I'm making a cheesecake for dessert. ( I got a spring form pan for Christmas and I want to use it ) :o) TY!

There are more comments are this being okay ... I think I'm going to go for it. My hubby says that he hates fondue because he never gets full that's why I want there to be a variety because I want people to fill like they had enough to eat! :o) TY!

We don't drink alcohol. We're the sober family on the block. We're having sweet tea and other stuff. that's about it. Thank you for concern! And it's just my mom, dad, and sister coming over. They've never had fondue before so that's why I'm having so much!

LOL, you sound like me. Whatever I do in life, I tend to "go all out." I don't think that makes me tacky, just enthusiastic! People tell me it's refreshing. (And my husband thinks it's cute I try so hard.)

its way too much. calm down and dont overdue it or youll make it worse

Yes, that's a lot of heavy food - especially if you're planning on finishing with cheesecake.

In my opinion, you can safely drop a few items (choose the fussiest ones) without regret.

No, thats perfect!
by any chance u arent close to sydney are u? i would love to try this!

there is nothing tacky by being a good host. I would love to go to a party like this..sounds fun and delicious!

I dont see a problem. At least you are offering your guest some variety. but if you feel that you are overdoing it then I think you mivht want to cut the beef for the main meal.

I would have the fondue later in the evening as a late night snack. It will probably be more appreciated after people have had a few drinks and get hungry again.

I don't think it's to much at all. Sound's good to me! Can I come too. lol :)

I don`t think you have too much food.I come from an Italian family so we always had tons of food for get togethers. It makes people feel welcomed!Good Luck!

It sounds like you have everything all in control. Hopefully some of your guests will help by bringing things too. Did you remember beverages? If you serve alcohol, please watch your guests, I don't mean to be a "downer" but you don't want to be liable if someone over-indulges. Hopefully there's a designated driver.
Happy New Year!

I guess it depends on how many people are coming to this event. I think the menu sounds fabulous and enough food for everyone.

I probably overdo my gatherings, but more food is always good, and if it looks impressive you'll get compliments. (That's what makes me happy, seeing everyone having a great time, I know the presentation is great, and people snarfing down my food.)

Go for it!

I think what you plan on doing will be just fine. It sounds like it'll be great.

General thoughts on this from someone who fondues nearly every week:

Remove baked potato; replace with potatoes to be used in the fondue (precooked slightly or canned)

Keep the salad small.

Include spoon and fork per person for dessert, and serve the cheesecake with a chocolate fondue... it is fabulous.
