Should bars be allowed at a cookie swap? ?!

Question: Should bars be allowed at a cookie swap!? !?
This is a petty question, I know but!.!.!.!. I am having a cookie swap and two of the ladies stated that they are bringing bars rather than cookies!. To me cookies are more difficult to make and more desirable than bars!. Please do not think that I am shallow but I put a lot of time into the cookies that I bring (as do most of the other ladies) and to me bars are just a quickie dessert!. So, my question is should bars be accepted or should I ask them to bring cookies!?
Thanks! Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You should ask them to bring cookies!. Bars are NOT cookies!. I completely understand where you are coming from!. I'm the exact same way about things like this!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I strongly believe you should just let the ladies bring them- they are homemade!. You did not state at the beginning of your cookie exchange that they had to be shaped cookies or balled cookies!. Just like people have different personalities, there are all types of cookies!. I love to try bar cookies that include recipes I have not tried before!. I had a holiday cookie exchange once that included 1 lady bringing fudge instead of cookies!. I welcome the diversity for my holiday cookie spread!. At least the cookie is not from a roll of cookie dough, that they just bought at a grocery store and cut and baked!. ( been there, had that in ours too- nothing what so ever about homemade!. This was very disappointing, because yes I spent a lot of time of my cookies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The recipe for a bar can be exactly the same as a cookie except for the fact that you don't roll them into balls or drop by spoon fulls onto the cookie sheet!. So I don't think it's that big of a deal!.

I have a few cookie, cook books and bars are cookies, they might have their own section, but they are still considered cookies!. Even in the older books by grandma gave me!. It's not like they are an entirely separate category of desert, or else they wouldn't be included in a cook book for cookies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just let them bring the bars!. If the point of the cookie swap is to have a little contest about who can make the most impressive dessert, they're only hurting themselves!. If it's to exchange desserts, then they've fulfilled the purpose with something homemade!. Bar cookies, in general, take about the same amount of time and effort as drop cookies do!. Some take a little bit more!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

sometimes bars actually take more effort than some types of cookies--my mom makes these amazing raspberry oatmeal bars, and i know they're much more complex than your standard chocolate chip cookie!. Honestly, as long as it tastes good, who cares!? The point of these things is to enjoy each other's company while you're there!.!.!.don't ruin the mood of the day by nitpicking over desserts!.
Besides, how would that conversation go!?
"I'm sorry, but bars are not cookies!. You MUST bring cookies!." Really, you'd look insane!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are all kinds of cookies, bar cookies, drop cookies, molded cookies, pressed cookies, refrigerator cookies, rolled cookies!. If you are having a particular KIND of cookie swap, then you should specify that to begin with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly, if they are willing to bring anything I would be thankful!. It's hard to get people to contribute things and many people are not bakers!. It might be their way of telling you that their cookies leave a little to be desired and they'll appreciate yours all the more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bars can be really good, and hard to make!. And usually, the pieces are bigger, and denser, so you are getting more for your money!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are being a bit petty, sorry!. Maybe thier recipes are family recipes passed down, or have special meaning!. Maybe they're also "tired mom's"!. Maybe others will enjoy them more than you!. You never know!.!.!.!.!. keep an open mind!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you should get a life!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i dont see why not
whats the worst thing that could happen!? Getting arrested by the cookie police!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
